Who are the oldest pilots (in-universe)?

By Gibarian, in X-Wing

Recently became curious about this, particularly on the Rebel side of things.

Back when I started proxying Jake Farrell after Reb Aces was first spoiled I'd refer to him as "the old A-Wing pilot in RotJ" whenever I had to explain which character the card represented. That eventually got shortened to "the old man".

Recently I've been using Horton Salm, another old guy, who now also gets referred to as the old man during gametalk.

So, naturally, now I want to figure out which other pilots are old dudes, so I can make an All Old Man squad.

Is Chewbacca the secret answer to this question?

I came here to say Chewie. Wedge flew for a long time. Cracken served until he was old, but I don't think he was in a cockpit most of that time.

Yeah, according to the WEG RPG, Chewie was in his 200s.

Was that not retconned by The Clone Wars?

He showed up a couple times in that show, and appeared to be a teenager/young adult. I guess for a Wookie that could still mean he's 50+ or whatever, but if the original trilogy is set 20-25 years after The Clone Wars I don't think he could be up near 200 anymore.

Wedge definitely seems seasoned, but he also has that babyface.

Dutch seems old, but I don't know if I have the guts to rock a YYA list, even for jokes.

Red Leader from a New Hope looked kinda grizzled, but I'm not sure if he has a name or a card in the game.

Oh, I don't recall his appearance. I did see a young Wookiee in the episodes that brought some younglings to that planet where they bet the lightsaber crystals, but that wasn't Chewbacca.

I'm just starting season 6, so maybe it's still to come.

I think he showed up in the S4-S5 span. It was during that arc when Ahsoka gets stuck on the planet where Trandoshan slavers are hunting Padawans for sport.

Chewie shows up in the last few episodes in Season 3. Can't remember exactly which one though.

Yeah, according to the WEG RPG, Chewie was in his 200s.

Chewie's age was 200 years old LONG before West End Games. Numerous promotional materials from the original release in 77 give Chewbacca's age as 200 years old.

After all the Alien pilots.

Boba Fett. He flew(tookoff) in Attack of Clones. Didn't die in Sarlaac and still flys in EU(if the price is right)

That's Chewbacca. He appears in the last episode of season three. IIRC that's the only episode.

Dialogue:

- Your name is Chewbacca?

- (growls affirmative)

- Chewbacca, does anyone even know you were taken?

Technically it could be another Wookie who, by coincidence, just happens to use the same name. I doubt that.

I don't think Horton Salm was that "old" at Endor. Maybe late 30s or early 40s ? Not like Red and Gold squadrons at Yavin, seems like half their pilots were pushing 50 or more. Don't forget another old pilot.......Vader.

Isn't Akbar quite old? I know he's not a pilot in the game but he does fly in the EU.
