Calamity....
Calamity....
Yeah, that's bound to make it's way into a few decks.
I'm surprised some factions get 3 cards and some get 2, but I figure it'll all even out by the end of the cycle.
I'm surprised at how expensive most of these cards are. It's either going to slow the game down or they aren't going too see much play until more war packs come out.

Well, Calamity is going to do a lot to make expensive units more worthwhile in and of itself.

Then could the cards in the Core sets be 'support' cards in comparison to the cards in the upcoming releases? I say support cards in that the "backbone" of each faction has not been released yet, and we are now seeing how each faction will be fleshed out in the months/years to come.
Thoughts?

I personally don't see a need to buy packs one by one until the whole cycle is out.
Edited by StereochildI might be doing the same.
1 resource for a 3/3 unit with a Command Icon, that my enemy gets to place where he wants.
Sweet gods of Chaos where do I sign?
yeah,

I think FFG want $150 for the cards and it will be easier to get it from us in smaller chunks.
Panic...
So, does Calamity sound like a way to balance out resource struggles?

I think it comes out to $90. 6 packs, $15 per pack.
Too bad they went for mixed packs instead of faction-only packs. The latter would be bad from a marketing viewpoint I suppose.
At least people won't have to wait 6 months before they get the cards of their favorite faction.
Edited by GridashThey did that for one cycle with Invasion. So, it may not be out of the question, eventually. But it was several cycles in. This early on, it would give that first/second faction a very strong advantage for months to come.

Or $60, if you shop smarter

Probably not. Unless two factions each get a warlord in a single battle pack, one faction isn't getting a new warlord this cycle.
Also, the only other way to be fair would be to have each faction get 2 and there be 3 neutrals per pack -- which is too many neutrals.

Each pack can have 3 cards for most factions and 2 for a couple of others to allow for some neutrals. So I also agree that it will balance out over the cycle. Will be interesting to see how much that holds when there are 9 factions in the game.
You have to think the cycle as a set divided in "easier-to-buy" packs. We will have 360 cards as a whole, and my guess goes for 10 Neutrals, 7 Warlords with their signature cards (9) and another 41 cards for each faction.

41 cards for each faction seems just a little high. Here's my best guess.
Howl of Blackmane has no cards for Space Marines outside of the Warlord and signature squad, 2 cards for Orks, 2 cards for Chaos, and 3 cards for everyone else, and 1 neutral card.
The other sets will have a similar makeup, so lets make some.
Set 2: 0 Chaos, 2 Space Marine, 2 Astra Militarum, 3 for everyone else, 1 neutral.
Set 3: 0 Tau, 2 Eldar, 2 Dark Eldar, 3 for everyone else, 1 neutral
Set 4: 0 Ork, 2 Tau, 2 Chaos, 2 Dark Eldar, 3 for everyone else, 2 neutral
Set 5: 0 Astra Militarum, 2 Ork, 2 Space Marine, 2 Eldar, 3 for everyone else, 2 neutral
Set 6 (this one will be different because it will have 2 Warlords): 0 Eldar, 0 Dark Eldar, 2 Astra Militarum, 2 Tau, 3 for everyone else, 1 Neutral.
This would give 13 new cards for each faction and 8 neutrals, if they are trying to keep it even.
Edited by alphasquidI think it's also possible there won't be neutral cards in every pack. if that's the case, we could maybe get 14 new cards per faction and only 1 new neutral card.
Edit: They've shown more than 1 new neutral card in previews, so it's more likely we are getting 8 neutrals and 13 cards for each faction.
Edited by alphasquidI'm going to assume that Calamity is not going to work against Token units..right? Cuz otherwise that Ork Shaman better pack off to another sector...
You are correct, Calamity is Army Units only.

I don't think that's possible. 9 Neutrals will mean you will have:
360 - 9 (Neutrals) - 63 (7 Warlords with their Signature) = 288 cards, which can't be divided evenly amongst the 7 factions.
In case you have 2 copies of each of the Neutral cards (as you have now in the Core) you would get:
360 - 18 (Neutrals) - 63 (7 Warlords with their Signature) = 279 cards, which can't be divided evenly amongst the 7 factions.
As a note, when I said 41 cards for each faction I meant counting different copies of different cards, this is, cards with 2 copies and some unique. The Core set only has 30 cards per faction (counting the Warlord) and you have 23 different cards each.
Sorry, I meant 9 new neutrals, 3 copies of each, for a total of 27 neutrals. 13 new cards for each faction, 3 copies of each, so 39 cards.
All non-Warlord, non-signature squad cards will come with 3 copies, fortunately.
