What's your Kryptonite

By tk426, in X-Wing

This could be anything from not being a good pilot or not knowing how to maneuver against a certain ship, or not remembering your pilots abilities.

So what's your Kryptonite?

I have a few I've been trying to get better at. And some that I have no control over.

1. Fire Control System. Whenever I see this on my opponents ship I cringe. It puts me in a start of mind where I feel like it won't matter how well I roll evade dice.

2. Soontir Fel. I've been a fan of this character since the old Decipher CCG game. I was ecstatic when they introduced him to X-Wing. And I've won many games with him. I just can't beat him.

3. Poor dice rolling. I really feel like i dont roll dice very well. I could have 5 attack with a Tie Phantom and only ever roll one hit. Consistently. I do end up winning more often than not, I think, but it's time like that that make you sick to your stomach.

360 Firing arcs...

...I use TIE Interceptors

Outfitting my ships with too many upgrades that it literally works against my original plan.

Proton rockets... for some weird reason, they'll only roll 5 hits against me (only the crits vary).

Lately it's been my own flying! I've been bumping myself a lot lately.

Dice rolling.

Everything with 4 dice. HLC, phantoms, etc..

They roast my Corran. :(

Imperial shuttles but when i'm using them, i'm just really bad at flying them.

I don't have a ship i cant handle but i do hate a chewie falcon that's decided to turtle.

The dice gods have forsaken me. Most of my losses stem from this.

An L.A. face and Oakland booty.

I faced once Vesseri + Outmaneuver + HLC, still have nightmares every now and then.

Fat Falcons. I've been playing Empire since the beginning and I love them for the flankers (interceptors n' such). Every other turret has a weakness (range 2 ion and blaster turrets or 2 attack dice 2400 turret) but the falcon is 3 dice out to range 3.

Not to say that I think it is overpowered, it just shuts down a lot of the more conventional flanking strategies that I build my lists around.

Luke with R2D2 with a Biggs as a buffer. It gets worse when you add DTF to Luke to suck up crits from Biggs. God I hate flying against that combo.

High PS, maneuverable ships. I'm terrible at guessing where my opponent will go so if they move after me, I'm in trouble.

Sensor Jammer. It's evil.

I don't do well with opponents who know how to block well.

Doughnuts

Green Dice when I am rolling them.....

Green Dice and Blocking. I get terribly blocked.

Myself

My memory hurts me the most.. forgetting an ability, or an upgrade. I have to conciously remember to check my cards or the sheet I'm playing from to remember what I can do each turn for each ship.

The Phantom Menace.

I'm constantly building against it, without which I actually face it all that often anymore. I'm trying to break myself of the habit, but I know that it's not going to be long before I face one again - because I'll have stopped building against it.

I guess I just need to learn how to fly against it, rather than hobble myself by building against it.

Long dark curly hair and a warm smile

If I outfit 1-2 ships with gunner (usually FCS too on a shuttle), I guarantee my opponent brings multiple 1 AG ships. Nothing like wasting 10+ pts.

New ships in plastic packaging.
