Card Rotation is Coming To Conquest!

By alphasquid, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest

Four more years. Maybe more.

Right, they said Fall 2018 is about the time we could expect it. I still think it's a great idea.

Also, it only applies to competitive tournaments. Clearly I can still play with whatever with my friends in casual games.

Blackmane stared at the datapad long and hard. He grunted, then handed it to Company Librarian to etch the runes of acceptance upon the device.

One of the braver Squad Leaders stepped forward "Commander...?"

Ragnar tilted his head and addressed his Great Company. "Brothers...we have four years to make this **** work." A howl of acceptance roared through the battle barge.

They made so much noise it woke me from my slumber in the Chapel.....

I just did a quick peek at the Catalog on this website, and the only LCG with 8+ cycles is A Game of Thrones, which coincidentally is also getting a second edition reboot announced the same day as the rotation policy. Call of Catthulhu is kind of close. I will be interesting to see what happens with it as it approaches the magic 8+ cycle boundary.

Ragnar stared at the dataslate long and hard. He grunted, then handed it to the thrall after etching the runes of acceptance upon the screen.

One of his trusted Wolf Guard stepped forward, "Ragnar what is it?"

Ragnar raised his head and gave a wry smile before adressing the many packs of his Great Company. "Blackmanes! Sons of Russ! We have four years to finish the hunt!" A multitude of howls roared through the great hall of the Blackmanes.

We approve of this.

CoC has stopped getting cyclic releases and has been recieving single big-box expansions only for a good bit now. They will always be at 7 cycles and later big boxes, and nothing is ever going to phase out.

yeah,
What is draft play?

Panic...

You buy a randomised draft pack, take a certain number of cards from it, pick one and pass around to the next player (receiving another hand from the player to your other side). Repeat until no cards remain undrafted. From whatever random stuff you pool together, you construct a deck.

Currently there aren'y any draft packs for Conquest, so I don't know how they'll handle the Warlord (I imagine it'll be some generic ID like in Netrunner) and faction restrictions will be removed so you can play with any card you manage to draft.

Somebody call RP control

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

My only worry with the LCG model when they first introduced it was that over time, if the games ran for years and years is that there could be huge bloat in the card pool, power creep of cards and discourgament of new players who look at a huge card pool.

Part of the LCG idea should be to keep things more affordble for new and existing players, plus managing a balance play environment. Having rotation helps with all three.

This is the beautiful sunset Invasion deserved

Edit: Instead the space marines played "Exterminatus" on the sun. (yes I edited for that)
