I love the idea of it for nostalgia, but in reality it's a terrible card.

Let's eliminate a player in a game that might go on for 1-3 more hours. Yeah... no. Making one person sit around for literally hours waiting for someone to win is silly. Every time it's been drawn we just declared the game over anyway.

I don't know about you guys but someone needs to replenish the beer and go for a food run.... the guy eliminated by the HBV is the OBVIOUS choice!

As soon as someone sets foot on the Crown of Command space there's no more respawning so he is not going to sit around (..playing) anyways.

It has only come up once for my group but we don't play Talisman all that often since it invariably takes six hours or more (there's always a new player needing a slow introduction and always someone reading every card very carefully, etc.). That game stands out as one of the funniest gaming sessions we've had. After a particularly tense endgame with a lot of dirty tricks and backstabbings, the most ruthless player manages to get to the centre and soon everyone is crying with laughter, not least the "poor" unsuspecting victim. The runner up could clinch the victory a couple of turns later but there was a long case made afterwards about "moral victory" that still makes me chuckle.

The word Horrible being slightly superfulous though. Are there any "Pleasant Black Voids"?

Definitely a classic "Keep" in any Talisman game.

Maybe the Pleasant Black Void could send you to the fairy ring, or and pool place card. Have a nice bath and a dance.. Or maybe that's just me? hard to tell .

It's great. We 'discard' used endings so they are not in play next game. Same with adventure deck,quests and any characters played. They are retired until it's looped! So if it comes up then bam! You won't spin that one again for awhile at least.

Oh, my. That Pleasant Black Void is a winner. The only suggestion I can offer is to addend the first paragraph with:

"You gain the power to heckle any still-active players. On their turn, hurl an insult at the player and roll 1 die, adding 1 for every Object and Follower that was consumed by the Pleasant Black Void along with your character.

1-6 In response to your heckle , the targeted player can punch you in the arm as hard as they want.

6+ You can take any one food or drink item in the play area from that player."

I only regularly play Talisman with my 6 (soon to be 7)-year old daughter, who is a fanatic for it. We include the Void. In our seven games together, I've drawn it twice. She cackled hysterically both times. I think I'm winning at parenting.
