Purge the Unclean: Liber Daemonica in Baron Hopes

By angryboy2k, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

Someone posted for help on this before but didn't get much response.

I was wondering if anyone "in the know" could explain what was supposed to happen with this tome's reappearance in Purge the Unclean's third adventure. I can only assume it was removed during the editing process.

Cheers,

Steve

As an addition to the above post, perhaps other GMs can share how they managed to incorporate the Liber Daemonica back into Baron Hopes.

Cheers,
Steve

I just ran the adventure as a stand-alone with a little re-writing of the encounters.

Instead of dark eldar, they got a half strength company of Cadian guardsmen led by a captain who'd sold his soul to a daemon in order for his men trapped on the hulk. Sort of a tragic, fallen champion kind of thing happening there and he was waiting for someone with the necessary knowledge of how to crack the seals to retrieve it so he could use its contents to cheat the daemon. (that got ugly!) Which sort of made a little more sense to me at least than random evil space elves turning up out of wtf nowhere.

Instead of a marine, they got a much lower powered Sororitas-exorcist kind of character. The book was eventually returned to the Grey knights, the sword is being put to good use whupping evil and while they where recuperating in hospital, awarded purity seals for their work that give a 'Nerves of Steel' talent.

Well since the SQ is involved in PtU alot I had that the book would have been misplaced in transit and taken by the SQ. Then sold for a very high price to the mutants in Baron Hopes, of course that isn't the only Libra Demonica.

The "evil space elves" had reason to be there. The guardsman in the other ][ group was working for the SQ. So i took it that he had contacted the Dark Eldar group and informed them of the situation. You have to remember that the enemy that shows up in PtU that links all of the missions is the SQ. Then are a group that has the understanding that the Emperor is just a man and that the "cult of the emperor" is what rose to power. It is an interesting group to use since they can be anywhere and connected to just about anyone. IMO they are the most intersted diverse Heritic group introduced in DH.

The ' official' thread is that the Liber Daemonica was to resurface in the hands of mutant terrorist leader Asod Morrir in Baron Hopes, delivered there by the Serrated Query. No idea what he was supposed to do with it.

I find this thread not very satisfying, and indeed the three adventures in Purge the Unclean are very loosely linked at best. The Serrated Query is the story arch in all three, but it is not a common theme or driver in each single adventure. GMs should tie things up with their own interventions.
