Nothing new?

By Lilikin, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Been out for a while as I haven't been playing much lately.

I'm not complaining just curious but there isn't anything currently unreleased that isn't announced is that true?

Imperial Assault looks like it took over.

Bad omens. (for other games I think Descent is pretty full currently for the release time scale)

Things will come, but with some time. Now, it's imperial assault's turn, so Descent will come after, like many other games;

That's bad, but hopefully, Descent is one of their top game, so I'm sure things will come.

Maybe as the first edition, 1 box for 2 years ? or maybe they are preparing us something big ?

We will se next year, but I think we will have 2 boxes expansion and 2 heroes and monsters boxes. But that's only specualtion, more hoping for :)

One thing announced for Descent, but not yet out, is the Heroes and Monster collection Guardians of Deephall.

I think Descent 2e will be slowing down. NOt only becouse SW:IA is comming. We will see at least one small box expansion with leuitenant and of course - Guardians of Deephall (H&M Collecion), with Nature's Ire (22nd co-op POD). That's all we know at this point. Remember that FFG is always planing 2-3 years forward.

Even if after a year or two the game will not be getting new expansions the content we have so far is very big, bigger even then 1e had. That will let us play for many years to come. Have fun wuth that what we have now and don't worry what will come.

cheers

PS. I wonder when Guardians of Deephall will be avaliable becouse 4thQ 2014 is comming to end and the game is still in development.

They have so many products out so I am sure some would get put on the back burner. I am still waiting for my X-Wings Miniatures Outrider ...

As far as Descent, I am really enjoying the solo/co-op campaign and I am hoping they are pushing that more as an option. In our group no one want to play because the Overlord is just not very fun to play with especially with just the core set.

I've read before that the Star Wars Attack Wing (?) and Descent are their two top selling game franchises. They won't be back down from more content anytime soon. We're just seeing a break (which I'm totally fine with, since it allows me to catch my breath and paint without worrying about more minis flying at me!).

Not many FFG games are fun to play with only the base game, if only one exists.

Runewars! (Though it is better with Banners of War.)

Battlestar Galactica!

Yep runewars is a super game without expansion.

Though I am also a bit sad that there are no new things annaunced. BUT i get shadow of nerekhal this weeekend and i heard this one is a blast :) so very exciting. and then i have to wait till this raven small box releases in german. so i have something big in front of me but i would also be happy with a new annauncement :D

i hope it will be a really nice one if they plan to release a new one.

If you're hurting for new content, there's a whole list of quests on the quest vault you can play as standalones (and some as campaigns.)

I'm really hoping for another big box expansion, although I rather wait a little longer until their good mini-factories are not printing SW:IA nonstop, to avoid hero-miniatures of nerekhall-quality.

Moreover marketing-wise it's the smart thing to do. Deprive Descent-fans of new content and present them that other similar, tasty looking dinner over and over again that is SW:IA (They even delayed the last hero&monster pack and totally stopped the previews for that). If there is nothing new for Descent on the horzion these people maybe buy SW:IA, because they want new Descent-like content, even if they are no Star Wars fans. Then when they bought SW:IA announce an awsome new Descent campaign they can't resist and voila, you've doubled their need to get everything for two instead of one "living miniature game".

I can see this working on me a little bit and although I like Star-Wars I can't justify to pay so much for the comparativly little content SW:IA provides. However I more and more think about getting this game and think I will look for good deals once it arrives. The thing that still turns me down the most are the minis. I enjoy painting minis greatly, but painting stormtroopers and robots is so much more boring than painting goblins, fantasy heroes, demons and the other different Descent-creatures.

So I think the lack of news on Descent should not count for anything about the state of the game right now. They even stopped previews of already announced and partially shown Descent products that should have arrived already.

I say wait until summer for them to announce new Descent content and the next expansion maybe arrives quicker than usual if they can fulfill the demand for SW:IA at that point in time(they are waiting for factory capacities to free up, so even if they already designed the campaign/components, there is no need to announce something you know you can't start mass-producing for about 6 months) .

I keep hoping for some news from the developers announcing new content for Mansions of Madness...but alas, nothing

Me too. MoM is one of my favorites, but I think it's been sidelined for Eldritch Horror (which is amazing in its own right).

There you all go. New content! :P

Campaign book!!! Seems super lazy but I'm super excited!

I don't see this as a lazy expansion- involving less development cost, perhaps, but it may turn out to be the best full-length campaign yet.

Agreed. Strongly. This is exactly what I am hoping for.

I'm super excited for it too. I would be totally fine with a bunch of these. Since heroes and monsters are coming out regularly, you really don't need new heroes every expansion too. And there are a bunch of classes already. I'm no where near having synced up each hero with each class.

battlestar is boring without the expansion, especially the last one (I sometines think that it should have been how the base game should be in the first place) and Runewars is a bit unbalanced without expansion, since not all army have all types of units bases.

And I'm sure it was intentionnaly made that way

I like the idea of a campaign book, it lets FFG produce new content while it's production facilities are busy with IA and other games.

Since the quest vault, campaigns are not ultimately necessary.

Figures, cards, etc ... are, because there's no way to do some by ourselves

I am not sure that I agree with the first part of this statement. I am concerned about the quality and "playability" of some of the quests within the vault. Seeing as there is no constraint as to who can create things (nor should there be), you can definitely get quite a hodge podge of quests, ranging from the very bad to the very good.

I would LOVE to see expansion books printed that had specific expansion requirements. Base Game + Nerekhall + Lair of the Wyrm, for instance. There are so many great map tiles available, and I don't feel as if they get as much use as they should. Super excited to see this book, though... especially since Eliza Farrow was one of my first painted lieutenants.
