Crazy Squads..

so since I just recently got to play my first game in a while i took the chance to field a defender and a phantom. and nothing else..

for 98 points and while I admit its far form ideal it did manage to absolutley destroy 2 squads in the games we had a chance to play. 1 was 4 awings. Jake, Genmar and 2 prototypes I dont recall the full load out but the prototypes had wingman and jake had proton rockets. I learned one important lesson tho.. a naked echo is a dead echo ;-) it came down to one last prototype and rexlar with 1 hull point remaining thank you white k turn!

So.. what crazy squads have y'all made that were just for the hell of it? ( yeah IM kinda tired of building for the meta) ;-)

What was the second squad you played? I'm not surprised that list beat 4 ships with 2 attack dice.

it was Biggs Jake Farrell and Keyan. dott recall the exact load out. I did get lucky with the assault missle tho and managed to tage a damage on each I know its a so far from ideal squad but it sure was fun to play

Because ordnance are fun

I tried Jendon,Jonus and a bomber with 4 assault missiles and 2 seismic charges, I would have ruthlessness if I had it. Which is probably a good thing I ended up doing about as much damage to myself as I did to the other squadron. (It also didn't help that I could only roll 1 hit even with rerolls from Jonus.)

I actually have an epic list made out with a Sigma Sqd. pilot running with Vader. Essentially its a 28 point distraction. His only goal is to get behind the enemy lines cloaked and fire at targets that need just one hit to kill. I can only do it twice, so its probably not the best strategy.

I'm looking forward to eventually fly a squad of 5x HWK-290's with Autoblaster Turrets and Saboteurs

What do you call that? "No green dice required"?

I've yet to name it. But your suggestion holds promise.

I ran the above a couple of months ago as a bit of an experiment against a pair of Firesprays, (1 was Fett, the other a Bounty Hunter pilot) and a Tie fighter. It was an interesting fight and the squad actually won which I was a little bit surprised by.

Give the phantom hull and you could do it 3 times do you really need ACD on a cheap phantom

Silly and effective all at once.

a lot of fun looking stuff in here. I like it all!

One crazy squad that I tried was:

Rexler

- Predator

- Autoblaster

- Engine upgrade

Backtsabber

Academy Tie

Lorrir

The rest of the squad got murdered in the first few rounds, but by then, the Rebels had broken formation. Rexler was then able to take them all appart, one ship at a time and survived with just one hull left. It was one of the strongest comebacks that I ever had :)

I recently tried to make Arvel work in the following build:

Arvel + refit + test pilot + daredevil

Kyle + crow + recon + blaster turret

Rookie

Blue Squad + FCS

My opponent was flying Vader, a couple named TIEs and two BSPs with swarm tactics but he landed Vader on an asteroid twice and in the end it was Kyle and Arvel vs Dark Curse, who can't get shot at with a blaster turret. Using daredevil I managed to ram DC three turns in a row before I was able to win. It was simultaneously the best match up for Arvel and the worst for Kyle, who would have died for sure had he been facing DC alone.

It's a strange ability and is suboptimal due to the lack of dice modification but honestly I had a lot of trying to ram my enemy every turn =).
