X Wing Pro Tour?

By atkrull, in X-Wing

Whoa, aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves here? I mean, should we fix the inclusivity problem we have first? ;)

Sorry...just saying gamers that try to make money at the thing they love as the "pathetic" set me off. No I am not a pro gamer, yes I don't like the ultra competitive atmosphere that comes with "pro-tours" but they aren't pathetic...

And do professional athletes add any more? I have a tough time differentiating pro athletes, pro gamers, or pro poker players.

I just don't want money added to the game because it changes the focus of even local, friendly events.

Knew this would come up eventually...it always does. Nope and I have a similarly low opinion of them, actors, and most big name entertainers. Horribly overpaid for what they contribute to society, though I am sure someone will come in to mention some philanthropic celebrity..there are just as many if not more who prove my point. I ran a long debate series on this way back when I was in high school that I will not decline into here...suffice to say I see pro athletes in a similarly dim light and in no way shape or form support them or their inflated industry. I do find them less pathetic however, their skill is marketable to a wider audience and I can respect that...xwing and video games can't do that as of and I can't see them hitting this point in the US anytime soon.

To remain on topic...you are absolutely right...the competitive scene brings out the worst in gamers...throw money into the mix and you are guaranteed to see the worst people have to offer.

I try to make my living by trying to do more than being good at a game...and thus far I haven't been as successful as I would like...but I have many years left (I hope.)

If people want to try to make their living through playing games that is their business and it makes no real Nevermind to me. But they shouldn't think people will respect what they do or think that playing xwing or starcraft is a sustainable way to feed a family.

Edit: stupid auto correct..God I hate posting on a phone

Ive seen this in other games magic has ots pro tour. Yugioh has the ARG serried and more recently Tcgplayer. It can work of you dont like those players stay awayfrom them. If they com in to your store dont play them. You can play your casual games when ypu want with whoever you want
