Father-Son Lore Secrecy Trap Deck

By drowsword, in Strategy and deck-building

Here is a deck that I have been using to good effect. The Hero lineup is thematic and the deck list includes cards that can scry the encounter deck, forgo engagement checks, trap enemies, damage enemies in the staging area, and reduce threat in the staging area.

  • Denethor
  • Faramir

  • Henamarth Riversong (x1)
  • Ithilien Archer (x1)
  • Anborn (x1)

  • Expecting Mischief (x2)
  • Secret Paths (x2)
  • Radagast's Cunning (x2)

Thoughts?

Awesome concept! Any successful 2 hero deck is great, and you've even made it a father son combo. This reminds me of a similar deck I made with Glorfindel, Pippin, and Mirlonde.

Is this intended to be a solo deck? I'd be worried about questing with this deck considering the heroes only have 3 combined willpower and there are limited contributions to be made from the allies.

Are you able to stay in secrecy? Without any spirit you are relying entirely on Needful to Know. Granted, with enough scrying you should be able to use them to full effect. But I could very easily see questing for 3 or 4 on the first turn, getting 5+ threat in the staging area, and instantly being out of secrecy. At that point Needful to Know becomes too expensive and several other cards become less useful. If you are able to stay in secrecy, I'd recommend adding Resourceful to the deck.

I'd love to hear a few session summaries about how the deck played out.

Why there is no resourceful?

What scenarios does this beat? I'm too lazy to try it honestly, but I'm really curious.

I'd put more copies of Wingfoot, it's just that good, especially with Henamarth (I'd put another one of him). And where is card draw??? I mean, this is a monolore deck, you need to take advantage of card draw.
