New Worlds - Seeking some feedback

By GM Hooly, in Game Masters

Hi fellow GMs!

I've finally finished creating the 28 worlds needed to fill my small corner of the Star Wars Galaxy for an upcoming (and in fact my first) Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign. I'm interested in getting some feedback on each world, so feel free to comment, and use at your leisure.

All of the worlds can be found at my Obsidian Portal page, Veil of Darkness .

I'll post a world a day to allow people some time to give feedback. I have used some planets from canon, and some I've pulled from elsewhere and renamed, while others probably go against canon as they belong elsewhere. Most though are my own invention.

Thanks in advance.

planet-gelaed.jpg

System Name: Gelaed

Location: U7-0946/0272-0104
BoSS Data: D978671-4 : – : [ Ag Ni ] : G511 : Im
Rarity Modifier: +3
Law Level: Low (1)

Type: Terrestrial
Terrain: Marshes, Mudflats, Wetlands
Temperature: Hot
Gravity: Standard
Atmosphere: Type II (breath mask suggested)
Hydrosphere: Moist
Orbital Metrics: 250 local days in a year / 24 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: Stodas
Starport: Limited Services
Population: 5 Million
Planet Function: Agriculture
Government: Competing States
Tech Level: Industrial (Stodas) / Space (Colonists)
Major Exports: Low-Technology, Luxury Goods
Major Imports: High-Technology, Medicinal Goods

System Overview: A flat, muddy, swamp ridden mess would be an apt description of Gelaed. There are no oceans; instead much of the surface is covered with a shallow layer of water, resulting in thousands of miles of mud, swamps and fetid pools. A single large moon creates a strong tidal effect on the planet, essentially making the entire planet a tidal mudflat. Microscopic plants live in the mud and mangroves, giving it a brown-green colouration in places. Although most of the planet experiences regular flooding, there are a few places high enough to remain dry. Gelaed is also hotter and more humid than most garden planets, a fact most people are put off by, but is still well within habitable norms. The atmosphere is slightly richer in oxygen, but still perfectly breathable.

The native sentient inhabitants of Gelaed are the Stodas, a short, stocky, amphibious race of toad-like beings with dark to medium brown hardened pocked skin, with webbed hands and feet. The race was in the early stages of development when Republic explorers discovered the planet over 800 years ago. Since that time, the Stodas, who were found to be a very hard working and stoic race, adopted much of the technology the galaxy had to offer to provide better ways of doing what they were already doing, in particular farming, but rejected most other forms including space travel.

The most dangerous thing about this planet is its native wildlife, in particular the Teriket Bat, a huge winged creature the size of a large speeder, and the D’Ogos, a black furred, four legged creature with ravenous teeth. Thankfully, the D’Ogos stay away from the Stodas, who’s skin is poisonous to the animal, which only make members of other races that much more of a target.

The current political climate on Gelaed has nothing to do with the Stodas but is caused by feuding between opposing corporations and land holders who fight over land rights and claims. Unfortunately the Stodas quickly become the victims in such conflicts, but most Stodas see the problem as the price they must pay for accepting the “outlanders” technology in the first place.

Gelaed’s dryer areas, although rare, are mostly man made, using imported sands and chemicals to harden the waterlogged soil layers. There are several large cities, but the planet nevertheless remains largely undeveloped and relatively sparsely populated. Most buildings within the cities are stumped or made of dry rocks, with many being no taller than three stories.

Gelaed has a bustling business and trade district akin to the street markets of old where all manner of items is bought and sold at the right price. However trade is not its primary function, as agriculture is the economic cash-cow for the system. Most of the planet’s farms are run by large clans of Stodas farmers, with each farm producing high grade fruits, rice and spices (the latter being produced from the mud itself). The minerals also within the mud have been found to have some healing properties and the refined goods are often found in great supply.

Law on the world is low, and Imperial presence is at a minimum. For this reason alone, smugglers and criminals like to use the planet to lay low when things get a little heated.

I absolutely love how we've all got wiki sites for our own Star Wars campaigns. Total multiverse action going on here!

Game will be face to face, but is only in planning stage thus far. Thanks for the positive feedback :)

planet-arlave.jpg

System Name: Arlave

Location: U7-0946/0272-0807
BoSS Data: D5A4531-9 : – : [ Fl Ni ] : G901 : Ua
Rarity Modifier: +5
Law Level: Low (1)

Type: Terrestrial
Terrain: Plains, Silver Orbreros Lakes
Temperature: Hot
Gravity: Heavy
Atmosphere: Type III (breath mask required)
Hydrosphere: Moderate
Orbital Metrics: 488 local days in a year / 20 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: Hethas
Starport: Limited Services
Population: 910,000
Planet Function: Disaster/Service
Government: Family
Tech Level: Information
Major Exports: Medicinal Goods
Major Imports: High Technology

System Overview: Arlave is one of the oddities of the Dominus Sector. The worlds atmosphere is toxic to most races, the taint stemming from the gases rising from one of the more unusual planetary features in the sector, namely lakes of a molten silver type substance which litter the planet’s surface. The silver type substance is known to the Hethas, the native species of the world, as Orbreros. The existence of the substance still baffles scientists as it appears metallic, acts mostly like water does on a standard garden world, and is not in any way harmful to the world’s native population. The substance evaporates into the atmosphere, and at various points during planet’s weather cycle, causes silver rain to fall. This has made the food produced on the planet harmful to outsiders, but for some reason, also has no effect on the Hethas.

The Hethas, a humanoid species, have adapted to the environment over countless millennia by developing a gill like structure in the top of their heads. These “gills” form part of the species’ respiratory system, and allow the Hethas to breathe the nauseous gases of the atmosphere with no ill effects. Most other species are required to wear breathing apparatus for any form of habitation on the planet, and for this reason, large habitable domes have been constructed by the Hethas to house outsiders and encourage trade. These massive domes house hydroponic farms and food production facilities for the “outsiders”.

Arlave has two small moons, Kiriso, and LvK-227, the latter being an asteroid which fell into Arlave’s orbit approximately 100,000 years ago according to astronomers. Scientists believe that the asteroid’s arrival and subsequent capture in the planet’s gravitational field may have coincided with the release of the liquid Orbreros lakes.

The world is governed by the Daraay Family, who are native Hethas. The family are not royalty by any means, but instead “purchased” the various failing Governments’ debts just after the Hethas population suffered an extreme blow in the form of a virulent plague which swept the planet. Millions of Hethas died, but thanks in part to the medical facilities managed by the Daraay Family, a cure was discovered.

Subsequently, with many of the world’s governments in disarray, and the Arlavian Oversight Committee unable to afford to seek the assistance of the Republic, the Daraay Family stepped in and through political subterfuge took control of planet. Obviously many conspiracy theorists pointed the finger of responsibility at the Daraay Family; however this accusation has been dis-proven through countless thorough investigations conducted by the Jedi Council, the Galactic Senate and officials within the former Dominus Sector Confederacy Council.

As a result of the plague, Arlave’s native population has dwindled to less than a million inhabitants, most of which are Hethas. The Hethas population however is now on the increase, and outsider visitation is starting to increase slowly. In the meantime, Arlave is still considered by many to be inhospitable due to both its noxious atmosphere and that many galactic citizens are not yet convinced that the Arlavian Plague has been completely eradicated.

The Hethas produce some of the best medical supplies in the region, however its remote location, and lack of suitable large-scale trading facilities, has also meant it cannot gain the reputation it requires to compete in the galactic market. Rumours persist that the Daraay Family is currently seeking favour with the newly appointed Sector Moff of the Dominus Sector, with a view of the Empire assisting the Hethas by providing funds to further expand the system’s near-archaic starport facilities. This, along with the running of an extensive education and marketing campaign about the Arlave, will at least encourage further trade with the rest of the sector, and in turn exponentially increase the Daraay Family’s profits.

Arlave has few laws pertaining to possessing weapons, although law enforcement does not take too kindly to concealable weapons. Permits for possession of weapons of that type are required, but these laws are rarely policed.

Just a little nitpick. How is a planet covered in very toxic liquid mercury an agricultural planet? Maybe if it was populated by aliens, but a human derivative(or anything remotely close to human) wouldn't stand a chance of eating anything that can grow on such a planet. Mercury is also liquid at room temperature, and it vaporizes/boils at just 356 degrees C, so in areas of volcanic activity you'd have a ton of mercury vapor getting dumped into the atmosphere. Which could lead to the interesting phenomena of it raining liquid mercury.

I would completely ditch the agriculture planet background and make it a mining colony. Humans wouldn't survive long enough on such a planet to evolve into an abhuman species if they were actually eating anything they grew in the native soil. It would be so contaminated with mercury everyone who ate it would die of poisoning in no time.

Its a really cool planet idea, just not as an agricultural world for anything but the most alien of species. A world where mercury is what their bodies use instead of water.

So what about no molten Mercury but lakes of mercury with the atmosphere being tainted through another gas...perhaps another gas not as toxic to humans?

Here are the elements I was looking for:

- Exotic environment

- Near human species

- Native family who took control of planet through nefarious means.

- Native strange plant life

OK, so I modified Arlave based on some feedback, and removed some of the unnecessary crunch regarding air pressure, etc. I was also reminded that Mercury also has a high evaporation level and couldn't stay in lake form out in the open for too long. I think the changes make a better world by leaving a few questioned waiting to be answered such as "What is that silvery liquid?"

I also liked the idea of silver rain a lot, so thanks Badmotivator :)

Edited by GM Hooly

Lakes of mercury and molten mercury are the same thing. Molten is just another term for liquid, which is what mercury is at room temperature.

You can stay with mercury and have it fall as rain. Just say that all food for the native a humans is grown in artificial conditions. Also explains the low population.

Nice pages everyone. When I created my Obsidian Portal page almost a year ago, there were about 200 EotE pages, now there are close to 800!

Good luck with your game GM Hooly, I will be following along!

How do we comment on each others obsidian portal sites?

To leave a comment on them just click the little Comments area and a new window should pop up.

<Facepalm>. Yeah corrected in the terrain type. Its now just lakes of a silvery unknown artificial substance. I've also added a tip of the hat to BadMotivator 's comments regarding the production of food being performed in the domes.

Atmosphere: Type II (breath mask suggested)
Hydrosphere: Moderate
Orbital Metrics: 485 local days in a year / 28 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: Effar
Starport: Limited Services
Population: 7 Billion
Planet Function: Manufacturing/Processing (Mid Tech)
Government: Theocracy
Tech Level: Information
Major Exports: Mid-Technology
Major Imports: Metals, Medicinal Goods

System Overview: The ringed world of Maatesso, although habitable, is one of the hardest places to live in the Dominus Sector. Its thin atmosphere, rigid rules and xenophobic native species, the Effar, make visiting the world a less than pleasant experience. The planet has one large continent which stretches from the south pole to the equator, dividing the planet into a large open sea and the other a primarily mountainous and rocky landscape.

The Effar, who lord over the world with an iron fist from atop their giant tower cities, are arrogant and somewhat xenophobic. Several "outlander" colonies exist on the super-continent, with the majority housed in the colonies of Tellangust and Larng, both named after the two Effar diplomats who brought Maatesso to the galaxy. The colonies are protected with energy shielding specifically designed to turn the radiation which slips through the thin atmosphere into a usable fuel. This fuel is then used to powers the shields. The mere fact that these colonies exist on the planet, has interested xenobiologists for many years, and some studies show that these cities came to be when a passenger liner crashed onto the planet hundreds of years ago, and the Effar turned the survivors into slaves. Although the Effar seem to tolerate the "colonist", it is clear than they are treated as an underclass, with slums and poor living conditions the norm.

The world has a fairly limited ecosystem however it ranges from tall mountainous peaks, to frozen tundra. As a tourist destination, of which few galactic citizens care to partake, Maatesso has its well documented rocky coastlines and stony beaches. Mount Olyus is also a popular destination, as this is the highest mountain peak in the sector.

Maatesso is also the home of large textiles factories which produce millions of different products for the rich and famous of the galaxy, as well as a majority of the materials used in the production of clothing.

Maatesso has a massive population which is ruled over by a religious dictatorship under the rule of the Effar Council of Ten. The world’s laws are strict, with a zero tolerance for crime. Weapons in any form are illegal. Ship mounted weapons must be disabled prior to arrival and are thoroughly inspected prior to passengers or ship crews debarking. Penalties for failing to comply with Effar laws are swift and harsh.

planet-baros.jpg

System Name: Baros

Atmosphere: Type II (breath mask suggested)
Hydrosphere: Arid
Orbital Metrics: 567 local days in a year / 40 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: Brubbs
Starport: Stellar Class
Population: 5 billion
Planet Function: Mining
Government: Ruler by Rite (Family Clans)
Tech Level: Information
Major Exports: Metals, Minerals, Spice
Major Imports: Foodstuffs, High Technology

System Overview: Baros is situated at the terminus of Prously’s Rim Run, a hyper-lane which connects it to Dornea. Baros itself is a large planet in orbit around the blue star Bari. The planet itself is a dry, arid, dusty, and windy world with rocky terrain and heavy gravity, equivalent to 2.9 times the galactic standard. Baros receives plentiful solar radiation but has few organic nutrients. As a result, the planets plant life, which includes the prickly avabush, is sparse and meagre. The planet has a high gravity, and is frequented by windstorms.

Baros was originally inhabited by herbivorous lizards which evolved into the sentient Brubbs. Although the region of space around Baros was explored between 5000 BBY and 3000 BBY, Baros itself did not come to the attention of the greater galaxy until a just after the formation of the Galactic Empire, when a group of Brubb astronomers, postulating that their planet was not the only civilized world in the galaxy, began beaming coded messages into space. The message was intercepted by a cargo freighter under the command of the aging Quarren Explorer Ishtelen Prously. The Quarren’s discovery was quickly reported to the Sector Moff, who in turn dispatched a light cruiser to investigate the message’s origins.

The Imperials wasted no time in subjugating the planet after Baros’ minerals were found to be of great benefit to the Imperial war machine and its construction of its latest arsenal, the Imperial Star Destroyer. Consequently, a Golan Space Platform was constructed in orbit above the planet. This was later expanded upon, through corporate influence, into a trade hub whereby the space platform was upgraded to become a Stellar Class starport.

This upgrade also represented a turning point for Brubb society by allowing it to become the largest producer of mineral ore in the Dominus Sector. Unfortunately, the Brubbs never realised the Empire would take advantage of them the way that they did, and now through a 500 year lease agreement, a majority of any external profits earned go directly into the Empire’s coffers, and not to Baros’ economy.

Baros is also well known for its other export – Avabush spice. Strictly, the spice is illegal, although it does have rare medicinal properties which are often used in the treatment of mental illnesses and brain based diseases. However, the spice’s illegality in the rest of the known galaxy has created a thriving underworld trade, a business of which the local Imperial Customs Inspector enjoys the benefits of in order to turn a blind eye.

Local customs laws prevent unregistered freight arriving and leaving Baros, which requires the corporate run Trading Guild to check countless inventories. This has meant corruption is rife within its ranks. Weapons are allowed to be carried on the planet and on the starports, however licences must be carried for concealable weapons of any kind.

planet-haenat.jpg

System Name: Haenat

Location: U7-0946/0272-0701
BoSS Data: C932967-C : – : [ Hi Na Po Pr ] : G320 : Im
Rarity Modifier: +0
Law Level: High (7)

Type: Terrestrial
Terrain: Dense urban, radiation fields, factories, craters
Temperature: Hot
Gravity: Standard
Atmosphere: Type III (breath mask required)
Hydrosphere: Dry
Orbital Metrics: 390 local days in a year / 13 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: None
Starport: Standard Class
Population: 3 Billion
Planet Function: Manufacturing/Processing (High Tech)
Government: Imperial Governor
Tech Level: Space
Major Exports: Low Technology (alien artifacts), High Technology
Major Imports: Metals, Minerals, Foodstuffs

System Overview: Haenat is the industrial giant of the Dominus sector. Haenat is one of the largest planets in the sector, with a majority of its crater covered surface being converted to dense urban environments, gargantuan chemical spewing factories and industrial waste zones.

Although heavy legal restrictions apply on the planet, crime remains high. Imperial Governor Kendrick Dituri has spent the last few years attempting to bring much of the underworld under control. This has resulted in several assassination attempts on the Governor’s life, with one attempt resulting in the Governor receiving a replacement cybernetic arm.

Recently, the Governor has managed to acquire a single battalion of Stormtroopers which has been stationed in the capital city in an attempt to enforce order on the planet. Crime, however, continues to increase, as does the productive output of the industrial facilities, which in turn has resulted in the Moff of the Sector taking a more heavy handed approach by him encouraging the Governor to investigate other alternatives.

The planet is also the home of the sector’s high security prison. Equipped with some of the best detention facilities in the sector, the prison, based on Ef’Kat Island, sports a perfect record as a prison, with no inmates leaving before their incarceration is complete. The prison also lays claim to one of the highest number of deaths in custody, a statistic, the Imperials controlling the facility care little about.

The main city and starport of Haenat, El'Nat, is a sprawling metropolis, with city structures matching those the size of the superstructures of Coruscant. The lower levels consist of slums and is the home where the majority of crime occurs. Swoop gangs are common place, the strongest of which are the Rancor Legionnaires, led by a Ex-Tradoshan mercenary named Quell.

Several space stations orbit the planet and allow for the docking of the larger size starships including Star Destroyers. All stations are heavily patrolled by the Governor's Stormtroopers, however local and private security are the most prevalent. The majority of the stations are privately owned with the largest of the stations, Zerek-412 being managed by Imperial Forces. This station also acts as a processing station for the prison on the planet below.

The most unusual industry that hails for Haenat stems from an archeological dig occurring on the outskirts of the capital city. The dig, which commenced after several labyrinths were discovered during a drilling operation contained numerous artifacts of an unknown technology. These are studied in the Imperial Research laboratories located in the central cities business district, and later shipped to the University facilities on Indibedi for further study.

Sentient Species: None
Starport: Landing Field
Population: 20,000
Planet Function: Entertainment and Tourism
Government: Corporate Owned
Tech Level: Stone
Major Exports: Low Technology (Furs and animal trophies)
Major Imports: Foodstuffs, Luxury Goods

System Overview: Hailed as one of the best safaris in the outer-rim, Mazave is every bit as good as the brochure claims. Sporting thousands of different life-forms, including predators as large as the mighty Rancors, the facilities on the planet cater for every species’ needs. Operated by Galactic Safaris Inc, the planet is patrolled and maintained by the corporation without interference from the Empire.

There are two sizable facilities on the planet, both separated by two continents. The reason for this is that on one side, conservationists and scientists are encouraged to take part in working holidays, whilst on the other, hunters and thrill seekers are encouraged to “take down the big one”.

Laws on the planet are none existent, primarily so that visitors don’t need to worry as much as to what weapons to carry. Possession of small concealable firearms, such as hold-out blasters, is frowned upon however.

Sentient Species: None
Starport: Stellar Class
Population: 70 Million
Planet Function: Administration/Service
Government: Imperial Governor
Tech Level: Space
Major Exports: None
Major Imports: High-Technology, Foodstuffs

System Overview: Xelaonti Station is an Imperial controlled space station constructed initially in direct response to the Dornea’s system resistance to the Emperor’s New Order. The Station, now used as the administrative hub for Imperial activity in the sector, is a hub of activity, has a very transient population including business owners, tourists and traders. The station orbits an O-Class gas giant, and shares that orbit with the planet Xes. The planet Xes is a planetoid moon with a noxious chemical atmosphere that does not support life. Several Imperial surface stations have been constructed, but what occurs there is highly classified. Imperial forces are under strict instructions that any non-Imperial personnel who attempt to travel to the surface may be shot down on sight.

Xelaonti station has some of the highest level of law in the sector, with no weapons permitted except that legally attached to starships. Inspections before embarking on the station is mandatory. Weapons are allowed to remain on ships docked at the station, but must be fully licensed and safely secured.

A jump station exists on the outskirts of the sector for ships who have no requirement to visit the station. Several system patrol crafts are stationed in the sector which often can be found intercepting ships travelling via the system jump point. The Sector Rangers also have their base of operations for the sector at Xelaonti Station. Imperial Magistrates often travel to the station and one is allocated to the station full time to deal swiftly with infringements of Imperial Law and civil property disputes.

The system is well protected with a single Victory Class Star Destroyer permanently based in the system along with its full complement of TIE Fighters.

planet-aanesti.jpg

System Name: Aan Esti

Location: U7-0946/0272-0206
BoSS Data: B448723-B : S : [ Ag Ni ] : G601 : Ua
Rarity Modifier: -3
Law Level: High (7)

Type: Terrestrial
Terrain: Plateaus, Tropical, Urban
Temperature: Hot

Atmosphere: Type II (breath mask suggested)
Hydrosphere: Moist
Orbital Metrics: 225 local days in a year / 32 standard hours per day
Sentient Species: None
Starport: Stellar Class
Population: 60 million
Function: Trade
Government: Trade Guilds (Aan Vilos City) / Participatory Democracy (World)
Tech Level: Space
Major Exports: Foodstuffs
Major Imports: High Technology

System Overview: Aan Esti is a small planet, and is the central market place of the sector making its classification of a “breadbasket” world, more than appropriate. With an abundant supply of fresh foods from a thriving on-world agricultural industry, near perfect weather year round, and the location of the largest trading facilities in the sector, it is no wonder Aan Esti is considered to be a major jewel in the sector’s crown.

Unfortunately, the system is almost engulfed by the nearby astral body known as the Dark Nebula. This has made the system somewhat harder to get to from the rest of the sector, but has meant more traffic comes from the neighbouring Mon Cal Sector. In fact, less than 20 years ago, several commerce guilds successfully petitioned to have a trade lane specifically plotted from the nearby Kamdon System in Mon Cal directly to Aan Esti in order to better take advantage of the planet’s resources and popularity. During the Republic Court trial against the Trade Federation after their failed blockade of Naboo, it was discovered that the Trade Federation collaborated with several other organisations, many of whom later joined the Separatist movement, to funnel funds provided by the Republic to establish new trade routes to create the Kamdon-Aan Esti Run, only to them use Aan Esti’s good name and reputation as a means to launder trillions of credits. This chain of events did nothing to tarnish Aan Esti, and possibly had the opposite effect, as the system flourished.

Gas masks are not required, however are suggested for prolonged exposure due to the planet’s higher than normal oxygen levels. It has seas of water covering approximately 70% of its surface, and there are 2 moons orbiting the planet namely Aan Ferris, and Aan Herret so named after the Duros brothers who discovered the world.

Aan Esti has a fairly transient population due to the influx of traders, and the world can literally double in population during harvest season. Aan Esti also has the largest contingent of Sector Rangers in the Sector. The Rangers, led by Superintendent Keira Attoir, use the system as a training ground for new cadets, and have entered into an agreement with the Aan Esti Government to act as the system’s Police Service. The Rangers work closely with local security, but far outnumber any other security force on the planet.

The system has fairly strong punishments for members of the populace found in possession of military grade weapons; however the laws are somewhat more flexible with open wearing of civilian weapons such as side arms and blades. Carriers are requested to have their weapons holstered or sheathed at all times, but regular security checks of visitors and locals are conducted by Sector Rangers to ensure licences for such weapons are current.

The system also has a strong underworld, overseen by a Nalroni Crimelord named Eslon Varameet. Anything that can be found will be found by Varmeet and his many contacts, but only for the right price. Varameet also encourages other black marketeers to trade under his “protection”, which usually means losing over half of the profits made from a transaction. Those who fail to provide Varameet with his “cut”, tend to end up on the wrong end of a blaster, of seeing Aan Esti from a different perspective, when they are pushed out of a airlock in low orbit.

planet-bekescaan.jpg

Sentient Species: None
Starport: Stellar Class
Population: 600,000
Planet Function: Natural Resources
Government: Alliance/Federation
Tech Level: Industrial
Major Exports: Foodstuffs (Algae), Water (Frozen)
Major Imports: Luxury Items, Foodstuff

System Overview: Bekescaan is a completely frozen world with a breathable nitrogen/oxygen atmosphere. There are no continents, but there are some mountains which jut from the frozen green tundra. The surface of the world exhibits a strange green hue which is caused by a unique thick layer of algae which starts approximately 10 meters from the surface. Scientists are baffled that the organism can grow and apparently flourish with the ice.

Some simple animal species feed on the algae, and their habitat is limited to within a few miles of the scattered mountain ranges. Small plant life exists, but trees are non-existent.

The planet has several small colonies, with most being firmly entrenched in the mountains. Most of those who remain on the planet form part of the Bekescaan Mining Alliance, an unusual democratic business. Its current CEO , Weltin Oss is in his third term as the head of the company, and enjoys a clear majority of the people confident in his ability to lead the organisation. The corporation has done well with itself, and is, thanks to the wonder drug developed from the algae below the planet’s surface, the primary producer of medicines for the sector. The system’s latest venture is research being conducted to develop a synthetic bacta using the bio-coding from the algae as a starting point, which thus far has proven extremely stable.

There is no imperial presence of any kind on the planet, but the Bekescaan Security Force has been known to run a close second to the white armoured shock-troops when it comes to heavy handedness. Luckily however, Imperial laws are all but ignored with rules and regulations set down by the BMA’s Code of Conduct and BMA Corporation Policy.

System Overview: Leinen is a terrestrial planet with an oxygen-rich atmosphere. A layer of single-celled photosynthetic organisms covers the entire surface of the planet, giving it a uniform appearance and a vivid green colour. This affects the sky as well, and provides electric green sunsets along with a green tinge to the daylight sky.

The planet has a lush forested environment for much of its surface, which the Weledon Timber Corporation has taken advantage of. The company has signed a multi-decade arrangement with the Empire to harvest the trees in the system for use around the sector and in other parts of the galaxy.

The Weledon Timber Corporation has a military presence of its own consisting of well-paid mercenaries who protect the workers from the ever present sentient race called the Cardalathi, a fur covered humanoid race with thin limbs, cream to white coloured fur and yellow eyes. Reports from the Weledon Timber Corporation indicate that the Cardalathi have in recent months taken to attacking the woodsman workers in guerrilla type raids. Little is known about the motivations of the Cardalathi, and the Weledon Timber Corporation are close to seeking aid from the Empire to stablise the situation, before more of their worker’s lives are lost.
