[Paintjob]: Hutt asteroid base

By MacrossVF1, in X-Wing

Here is the finished product from the previous build thread. This has been a commission that has been very fun to build and paint. Enjoy!

I still think you should of gone with my suggested neon pink, very nice end result.

Loving it...

Notice to customers: Breather apparatus required for entry.

Notice to customers: Breather apparatus is not permitted beyond the entrance lobby.

Notice to customers: In the event of failure to pay for services rendered, Breather apparatus may be returned faulty.

:D

For anyone wondering about the lack of parking, I wanted it to be more like the Yavin DLC in KotOR, rather than a true "space cantina". It's more of the space equivalent of a shady vendor.

"Fill it with Twi'lek dancers, add some live music and a snack bar and I'll be right over!"

Absolutely fantastic

Nice.

Didn't manage to get my hands on some nice fluo/neon pink. Had to go with orange instead. I'm actually not satisfied with the neon sign. Of course, I painted it with a brand new colour, using a brand new airbrush, using a brand new technique (for me at least). Taking those all things into account I suppose it's not that bad actually.

this is absolutely superb. really fantastic.

The only issue I have is a lack of Aurek-Besh used for the sign. Other than that?

Fantastic!

On a slightly related (but not really) note, has anyone been tooling around in their asteroid hangar in Star Citizen?

Dammit now I wish I had a PC capable of maxing Star Citizen. Oh well.

PPHHWWWOOOAAARRR!

That is awesome .. x 10max

Mine, unfortunately, just died these past few days, and I'm still trying to figure out why. RIP gaming rig, we hardly knew ye.

I would -die-. The only other PC in my house is a dying desktop with 2GB of RAM. It can't even run Half Life: Source on max. Maybe its the power supply? Hope it's not the motherboard.

So long as you can salavage the hard drive though you should be okay.

When you start it how many beeps are there? One is a healthy machine any more than that will tell you what's kaput, three for example is the GPU.

There are no beeps. The past couple of weeks I've been getting progressively more and more BSODs while running DotA, so at first I figured it was a problem with my graphics card. Up until a few days ago it was tolerable, since it only took a minute or two at most to completely reboot, and the machine would be more or less stable afterward. Then one morning I woke to find the machine almost completely dead (PSU and fans on, but not booted). Since then it just seems to crash at random intervals, regardless of what I'm doing. It's even gotten to the point where it crashes and refuses to boot, giving me a handful of different debug codes on the MOBO (D5 seems to be the most common). I've been running tests while I have it up and running, and all of my temperatures appear to be quite normal. WhoCrashed does report a problem with my video drivers, but that's hardly a good reason for the machine to not make it past BIOS, so far as I'm aware. The built-in Windows memory software did a check and reported no issues with my RAM. FurMark ran my GPU for nearly half an hour at full capacity, and temperatures peaked just under 90 degrees. I ran long scans on my SDD and HDD with SeaTools, no problems reported there. Speccy shows my CPU to be idling just under 30 degrees. I'm typing all of this from my PC as we speak, but I have no idea how long it will be until it crashes again. Just last night it seemed to be booting fine, and then crashed before I could even log into Windows.

Edit: Just after posting this I started to receive multiple, recursive errors. It seems my video drivers are broken for good, and the OS is presently attempting some kind of self-fix with the startup repair tool. My next step is to reformat everything and start from scratch, but I don't have much hope for the future of this machine.

Hmm does not sound good, sadly bsod give you very little usable info on the cause, have you tried a Windows repair?

If that does not work annoying as it is a fresh install may help, means reinstalling crap but it's got to be better than what your describing.

This. Is. Amazing.

Wayii, vod!

Slick!

Love the space diner. I think it needs more parking and the neon could be a bit brighter but I love it all the same. The hole in the landing pad that lets you park ships is **** inspired.

Why would I want that when X-wing and Tie Fighter was just re-released? 20 years old and still great games! :D Sucks about your computer though. I've had faulty motherboards, power supplies, hard drives, video cards, fans, CD/DVD readers, well just about every single component has failed at least once during all the years I've had a computer.

The only issue I have is a lack of Aurek-Besh used for the sign. Other than that?

Fantastic!

If I promise to do so the next time I have the chance will you be happy then? :P

First time painting with flue/neon so I didn't quite know what I was doing. As for the hole, it was simple enough to include, but I suppose coming up with the idea might have been a stroke of genius. It certainly looks MUCH better when ships are parked on the landing pad.

I absolutely love the buildings. I am amazed that you can do those from scratch. By comparison the asteroid itself seems a little underwhelming. Kinda looks like a dirty loaf of bread. I am sure sacrifices had to be made to ensure that it was stable for tabletop use though.

Very impressive build overall though.

As cool as a fully 3d suspended asreroid would be, transporting it would be a nightmare.

Dirty loaf of bread? Now that's kinder than I would have expected. Just call it a turd. A very polished turd! :) Seriously though, the studio photo do not quite reflect the real deal. First of all, the matte varnish I used doesn't seem to be very matte. I don't know what's wrong with it, but it makes the model shinier than when I use Satin varnish. Secondly, some sacrifices were indeed made when building this, stability and durability were prioritised instead of extreme detailing. It has to stand up to the rigours of X-wing combat after all!
