So, at least pre wave 4, Gold w/ R3-A2 + ICT was a decent use of 25 points. I know Paul Heaver played one in the PA regional and took it to top 4. It had a nice synergy of being able to stress and ionize you all at once, if the opponent was in your front arc. It worked well for the first pass, but then the Y wing for the most part used its turret to just stay in the fight and the stressbot was wasted (well, not wasted, but under used).

With the inclusion of the title card that locks your turret into the front arc, and allows you to attack twice, it seems like it could be a natural combo for a goldie. If you set it up with the ion turret (as an example), you can double stress and ionize an opponent (and hopefully do 2-3 damage at the same time). Now, your gold is also double stressed, but if we just give up on the fact that he'll never get actions, it has the same dial as a HWK.

Furthermore, if he's supported by Garven, Dutch, or Kyle, he can still get modifiers (too bad none of them have an innate EPT for predator) for his attacks, so the lack of an action can be mitigated. Off the top of my head, I would think Garven would be the best teammate, as having a second Y or a HWK might mitigate the offense potential too much, though with the new toys for the Y wings, that might not actually be the case. Thoughts on this combo?



And now that I think about it, Predator seems like it would be a great addition to a BTL-4 Y wing, too bad both Dutch and Horton already have some reroll ability, perhaps it'll make the Gray more desirable? I could also see R5-K6 (that is the reaquire a TL droid, right?) seeing more play time with the title, especially on Dutch.

does this not exacerbate the problem of not being able to use the stress bot? Like you said, you get ion plus double stress on the first pass, but now you have a poor dial, and stress for 2 turns, and no turret. I like the concept of the BTL title, but I am a little leery of how it will work in actual practice. A turret is a powerful thing, especially on a ship like the ywing, and we are giving it up so that we can do nothing when the ship is out of arc. I dunno, fly it and see what you think. Y wing with double stress and no turret dosen't sound too good to me...

I've stacked up 5 stress on a Gold w/ R3-A2 before and it doesnt affect how it plays all that much. Too many people are too afraid of not being able to focus/TL. Are you telling me that you'll give up spending 25 points to easily double stress a Phantom and maybe even Ion it if you're lucky? The Y-wings with titles are going to require a new mindset to play, as they'll be making "strafing runs" through the fight zone, then spending a turn or two setting up another attack.

I can tell you that Dutch or maybe even a Gray with BTL-A4, Blaster, R2-D6, Marksmanship and Garven supporting is wondrous, and would probably be about as good with Predator instead of Marksmanship. Marksmanship probably nets you more damage, but Predator would be easier to use. I got an unlucky Crit, the Hard turns=Red ones, and it made using Dutch's EPT a nightmare.
