Prep for Worlds - What do I need?

By DekoPuma, in X-Wing

Wednesday afternoon I board a flight for Minneapolis. This is my first time attending such a huge event. For those of you that have gone before, any tips, tricks, or warnings?

I have my ships, my templates, and my tokens. I have my Star Wars shirts. What else do I need?

i havent been to worlds b4 but id say ud need a plan to beat Fat Han and Phantom lists and some lucky dice :)

Remember to stay hydrated, and to eat, at appropriate times. Playing hungry and/or thirsty will cause your game to suffer. Also tied to that, remember to use the facilities before your match. Needing to go can also impact your match. Trust me.

Be on time. Have any print out copies of your list that you may need, with as many copies as required.

Know all the FAQ on your ships/cards/abilities before you start to play. Stay up to date by re-reading the latest FAQ and Tournament rules.

If you happen to win, be modest in your victory. If you lose, be gracious in your defeat.

Above all, have fun.

And remember: "Fly casual" :)

but not too casual...

best advice for a big tourney: Sleep, food...and know your list.

Most helpful advice i got: bring a tray! Very serious, there will be a mad rush once table assignments are posted, and often times they will start the round time in 5min after regardless if anyone is setup, so you really want to make sure u can grab everything in one trip.

Also, i would try and bring some snack stuff. Many times u can go to time, and the next round will start immediately after scores are tallied, so no time for food. At the regional I had to go from about 10:30am to after midnight with no food since i forgot to bring any snack items. Same thing for bottled water.
