I only have the basic version of descent 2, but I am wondering if characters can take expirences, loot into a new campaign. Does this upset the game balance in the new campaign? Is there a standard way to rebalance it?
Carrying charcter and overlord experience - can you do it? How do you do it?
That answers most of my question but I'd like to hear from anyone who did mess around with continuing characters from campaign to campaign. Maybe they could keep x things? Hmmm....
Allowing anyone to keep anything messes up the balance of the game pretty hard. At the start of each act, heroes start out quite a bit weaker than the overlord but build up power towards the end. Near the end of each act, heroes are quite a bit stronger than the overlord, so the overlord has to leverage early advantages in earlier quests into a big lead to win later quests.
However: the heroes scale better with rewards than the overlord does. The overlord gets better cards and more relics: however, each lieutenant can only use one relic at a time, so more options just means a marginally better relic choice. More cards marginally improves each deck draw. Each extra ability on a hero is a huge bonus, and each extra item is a big bonus as well.
The heroes scale better with rewards than the overlord does, so any carry over between campaigns will make it much harder on the overlord to play.
Thanks for the advice. I will take it.
