Does Zarathur increase his own damage?

By Ancient Virus, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest - Rules Questions

As per subject. Couldn't work out whether his interupt would apply to his own attack or not. Looking for clarification please.

Thanks.

Yes It does.

Commanders deal damage like other units, and when you assign damage to an enemy unit zarathurs interrupt kicks in and adds one more, making him effectivly hit for 2.

or if you want the short answer:

Yes.

Thanks both, I assumed this was the case but never hurts to check.

Cheers

Zarathur's real brokenness is that his interrupt works even for damage from opponent's card effects.

It's not a Forced interrupt. You can choose to not use it if it is not to your benefit.

Zarathur's effect only applies when damage is dealt to Zarathur's enemies. There's not that many times that an opponent's card effect will deal damage to his own units.

Orks do it pretty often with Ork Kannon and Nazdreg's Flash Gitz.

A sub-set of optional effects within 1 out of 7 factions, which can thus be avoided, or used, depending on whether Zarathur helps ramp up your Brutal to your advantage or not. It's a bit brave calling Zarathur broken because of that.

Keep in mind that Nazdreg's Flash Gitz a signature unit. And the premise behind playing Ork Kannon is (usually) taking advantage of Brutal (unless you're using it on a planet where you're not).
