harrier Bee

By Mordai, in UFS Rules Q & A

Hi, we just want this confirmed.

Harrier Bees E: Reveal on copy of this card in your hand. Add the revealed card to your momentum, your oponent discards 2 cards Only playable if this attack is face up in your momentum.

To the question: He said that on the old forum, he read that you did not have to add the revealed card to your momentum, you could choose to just reveal, make your opponent discard and then put it back in your hand..

Well I think that the text on this card pretty much forces you to add the card to your momentum.

If I remember correctly, the problem is that its E: and not E reveal a copy of this card from your hand:. The difference is that its not part of the cost. Everything after the : you just do as much as possible.

K here is how it works.

if you reveal a copy from your hand, it has to go to your momentum. The "problem" is if you do not reveal a card from your hand, your opponent must still discard 2 cards since the discard part is not conditional on the revealing/adding to momentum.

Generally accepted practice is:

If you do not have a copy in your hand, you reveal your hand to your opponent to prove that you do note. Otherwise the opponent would likely call a judge over to confirm that you are not cheating.

Most judges in a large tournament will rule that you must reveal your hand to your opponent so that they don't get called over every turn to confirm your lack of the card in hand.

Stamp for aslum. If you DO have the copy of Harrier Bee to reveal, though, you MUST add it to your momentum.

Okay thanks for the answers everyone

wait wait wait wait....

No where on harrier bee does it say to reveal your hand. If i am holding a rejection or tag along or something and i dont want my opp to know then i dont really want to reveal my whole hand...i also agree that calling a judge every E to check the hand is a bit much.

The E is "Reveal a copy of this card in your hand" not "Reveal your hand, and if you have a copy" etc.

Just wondering if i show up to worlds with some crazy harrier bee deck am i going to have to reveal my hand every E?

Well, if you have a HB in your hand, it should be obvious that that's all you have to reveal. Revealing your whole hand is to prove that you don't have one in hand, and aren't cheating. Again if you really don't want to reveal your hand, you can call a judge, but they might get sick of that quick. Also note that the more often you reveal your hand to your opponent, the less they look at what is in it.

yeah but im just saying if i dont have a HB then i may not want to reveal to the opponent what i do have. Like do i have another attack in hand and am i baiting them to block the HB? Or am i bluffing.

If i was playing a HB deck (doubtful, lol) and i had to basically play with my hand revealed i would be bummed. I don't mind showing a judge (or 3rd party even) my hand to prove i am not lying, but again just because i am exploting a poorly worded card i shouldnt have to reveal my hand :P

People who (knowingly) cheat in games sicken me. I understand (i have NOT looked at details) that things like turnabout, voldo, etc have caused some "unintentional cheating" lol and there is nothing you can do abuot that but move on. In hindsight i had a similar thing where i was decked due to my opponent having BRTs and making me draw 4 extra cards a turn...but i had a destiny out, and the drawing effect should have been negated not just the CC hax.

O well, live and learn.

That being said, it is HIGHLY unlikely that i will be running HB for Nats/Worlds...(or do i just want you to think that, see what i mean this game is all about bluffing, lol)

"yeah but im just saying if i dont have a HB then i may not want to reveal to the opponent what i do have."

Basically, "sucks to be you" applies here

You reveal your hand, they reveal their hand by placing it in the discard pile. It's all fair...
