Headless Horseman Mini Expansion

By Gary Manning, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hello all,

I was thinking....sometimes never a good thing.......

Anyway, i was thinking, we currently have 4 great mini expansions for AH, namely King in Yellow, Black Goat, Lurker and Dark Pharoah. To date we have not seen much in the way of additional material for AH......

With it being Halloween time again, I was thinking of a Halloween themed mini box set expansion for AH.

In brief:

1. A number of halloween related events happen in Arkham, and as these take place (that is, the investgators do not 'close' them down in time, a count down track is filled (Headless Horseman Track).

2. Once this track is filled, the Headless Horseman appears, and terrorises the town of Arkham, resulting in the Terror Level Raising.

3. For every turn the Headless Horseman is on the board the terror level rises by one, until the investigaotres 'kill' him.

4. Once 'killed', the Headless horseman track is reset, and starts again.........

This is just a quick 5min thought sharing on this, and it will need to be thrashed out extensively/a bit more.

Maybe share your thoughts and ideas as well.

Maybe someone at FFG will read this thread, and next year we have a new mini box expansion.........you never know.......

Have you heard of strange eons? It's a intuitive program that allows you to create expansions like the one you describe. (If you want an example of some of the things you can do with it, follow the link in my signature.)

With regards to your expansion, I'd suggest that you make a small deck of about twenty-four Samhain cards that come into play at the start of the Mythos Phase. Each card should read something like " Carved Pumpkins The Cult of Samhain has surrounded the church with grotesque glowing pumpkins, scaring off the parishioners. During the Movement Phase , you may spend 2 Movement Points at South Church to smash them all and return this card to the box."

If there are X cards in play, put the Headless Horseman at the location indicated on the card. (X should probably scale in line with the number of players, but 3 seems like a reasonable finger-in-the-air number) The Horseman is a Physically Immune, Undead two toughness green monster with a crescent symbol who raises the Terror Level every time he comes into play or moves. I wouldn't worry about making him too tough beyond that (maybe -2 for 2 on Horror and Combat) Because he triggers when he comes into play, the players will have to extinguish the problem at the source rather than constantly dealing with the symptoms.

It shouldn't be too hard to find pumpkin images for the backs of your cards, nor images of a headless horseman for the monster, which just leaves you with the task of coming up with 23 other cards, using SE to put them together and then publishing them online.

Excellent.
