I've looked over the previews for the VT-49 over and over again, and I just couldn't find a build I liked for it that would leave me points for more than another one decently equipped ship, which seemed like a recipe for disaster. But I think that I may have found my answer for casual play - VT-49 + Lambda, full speed ahead, and embracing the disaster. Check out the full list at: www.tabletopgeneral.com/2014/10/28/will-geico-insure-a-decimator/, and let me know what you guys think. I need all the feedback and "you're crazy, that will never work" comments that I can get! ![]()
Let's play Bumper Captains! (VT-49 Decimator)
Solution, don't try to load out your escorts. If you drop the Shuttle and save two points on the Decimator, you can take three TIE fighters that can distract your enemy and do some blocking. No need for Yorr, anyway, as you don't have any upgrades that cause stress and the Decimator has no K-turn. In fact, I'd try to save a LOT more than 2 points on that Decimator... I'd try to drop a few things and fit in a Howlrunner with two Academies. She will buff your TIEs and help Oicunn make up is points.
4x Academy Pilots = 48pts

This list quickly gets into combat.
Points taken regarding bringing a mini-swarm, and I'll definitely keep that in mind.

The Dauntless title causes stress when it takes effect, which would then prevent Isard's free evade. Plus, I like the movement flexibility of having both ships move at PS4.
