I've seen a lot of lists similar to this. I am just debating on what to add to fill in my last 27 points. I don't have a second shuttle, or I'd consider that. The Saber Squadron Pilot would work as a nice flanker and arc dodger. I'd also though about maybe Night Beast and an Academy.

What are your thoughts?

I would say replaced ST-321 with weapons engineer. This will trigger with your fire-control system and having 2 target locks at the same time will make it pretty sweet for Vessery.

I could just knock the targeting computer off of the Scimitar and add Weapons Engineer. This would let me hold a TL anywhere on the board plus whatever the Shuttle is shooting at.

Tweaking your original list here:

I don't think that ST-321 is really all that useful in this list. Drop ST-321 and upgrade OGP to Captain Yorr. Now your 2 aces can zip around with red maneuvers and Yorr can eat them instead.

Also, you don't need an initiative bid. So if you have the Imperial Aces expansion, upgrade the Saber to a Royal Guard for 1 point. You can now move your 2 PS6's in whatever order you want. You'll still generally want Vessery shooting first so he gets his free TL, unless the Shuttle also has your target locked.

Vessery + HLC

Royal Guard Pilot + PtL + Targeting Computer

Yorr + FCS + Gunner

An alternative that I had played around with casually is:

97 points

Whisper + VI + ACD + FCS

Vessery

OGP + FCS

3 points for flavor. I actually tossed Rebel Captive on Whisper and risked losing the initiative bid vs PS9.

I have had success with:

Col Vessery w/ VI

Omnicron w/ Gunner, FCS, and Engine Upgrade

Turr Phenir w/ PTL and Shield Upgrade

I've liked this a lot, but want to try to fit an HLC on Col V. The Shield has come in very handy for Turr Phenir, but his ability to fire and then zip away has been great. I've also wanted to try Weapons Specialist instead of Gunner. Someone else suggested Darth Vader, as well. I have not tried out:

Col Vessery w/ VI and HLC

Omnicron w/ Weapons Engineer, Darth Vader, and FCS

Turr Phenir w/ PTL

The Shuttle becomes less of a gun platform, but it wasn't all that much, anyways. Also, I found that once I started to turn around, even with the Engine Upgrade it was hard. At least with the Weapons Engineer, I can start to paint multiple targets for Col V.

MJ, how did that casual list work out? was it good?

It was fine, only played once I think, and not against PS9 Han. Matchup was against 4X's and B's. I'm not certain but I think it was Wedge + PtL, Biggs, Rookie, and Blue. I don't remember if there was a PS9 in there, but I know I ended up shooting first with Whisper, so if there was I must have gotten lucky and won the initiative choice. I ended up with a 100-0 victory, although that might also have been due to player skill differences and dice. He had some good shots on Whisper early but I managed to survive with 1 or 2 hull left. Vessery got in the thick of it and I K-turned when I should have turned one round, and turned when I should have K-turned -- but being PS6 it is really hard to predict how that will play out. Vessery was a workhorse with his free TL, his ability kicked in about every turn he had a shot. The Rookie ended up chasing Whisper around a rock in the last 2 rounds, Whisper had to keep running away, and the OGP actually finished him off.

It's a really really good squad if Whisper can shoot first. You need to use Shuttle paths / stall tactics to get the most out of it. Against a PS9+ Fat Han it would have been totally different. I would have needed to keep Whisper well out of the way, and let OGP and Vessery try and handle Han initially. Not a particularly easy task.
