Acquiring a Target Lock on the same ship

By Modery, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I was trying to find an answer to my question in the rules (nothing stated as far as I could see) and with general internet searches, but couldn't find one. Should hopefully be easy to answer:

I have a ship that has a Target Lock on another ship. Can I perform a TL action with my exact same ship on that exact same enemy ship again (not in the same round, of course) while my previous TL is still active?

Reason behind this:

I use Keyan with Push the Limit. Sometimes I want to get a Focus token and get stressed via PtL, but as first action don't want to barrel roll. So I'm left with a Target Lock, that I may need to re-do on the same ship.

No it can not

FAQ p17:

Q: If a ship already has a target lock on an enemy ship, can

the locking ship acquire a target lock again on the same
enemy ship in order to trigger a game effect (such as
“Dutch” Vander)?
A: No.

Duh! Checked the FAQs as well and somehow missed that page.... Thanks!

Plus, you can only have one active target lock in play, so as soon as you target lock somebody else, you'd lose the first one. The only exception to this is the Weapons Engineer, which would give you two locks at the same time, but it must be on different targets.

As a side note, don't fall into the trap of Keyan of trying to push every turn.

If you have a lock on the ship you want to shoot at and you don't need to BR then just taking a focus, irt is fine you don't need to PTL, its actually slightly better as if you don't need the focus on attack it may come in handy on defense.

Also be careful when using Keyan that you don't stress to lock focus then a higher PS ship takes out your only target and you have nothing to shoot at to be able to get rid of the stress.

Absolutely agree. I ran him with Jan to convert my focus into an evade, and use the stress offensively. Of course that only works if there's a target to shoot at, without this he becomes fairly predictable in his movements (not that many green/white maneuvers to choose from)
