Yeah that whas what the remake made me think about: In Total recal there is suposed to be this ambiguity wether the events after Quaid leaves Recall are real or just in his head. In the remake you got this average joe taking down what's basically a full SWAT team. So you tend to go like, Hmm no, this could very well be a mind trip. In the Original it's Shwarzenneger vs Dani Devito and two mooks. Ofcourse he's gonna win! He's Ahnuld! I never had any doubts that this was happening in reality.

Plus how the frak do they go through the centre of the earth? why arnt the robots made of this magical substance that can withstand the molten core temperatures and stresses? i can suspend my belief only so far.

Going trought the center of the earth: that's some commute, eh? Me and my friends came up with the idea of a dynamo like device that stores energy when the train drops towards the center of the earth and the uses the stored energy to push the train back upwards on the other end. Doub't if that would work tough. And still completly stupid idea, all they really needed to do was build airtight factory complexs with airpurifiers in those polluted/infected teritories.
And the combat robots being disabled by an unarmed human screwing of their front plates, and pulling their wireing out.
Worst. Robots. Everrr.
