Market digital edition/prologue

By Rigmaster, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hi all.

I draw the market and decided to buy two cards - a mule and a waterbottle. SInce I was already carrying 4 objects the game made me ditch one before I got the mule. I can see this happening due to the encounter number on the cards but we've never even considered this is in our gaming group, just assuming that all purchased cards are aquired at the same time. Forcing you to drop an item when purchasing a mule seems a bit harsh.

How do you guys play?

Last time I played Digital Edition, that wasn't an issue. If I buy a mule and object(s) simultaneously, it didn't force me to ditch. Not sure what's going on with you...

We play that if cards are not acquired simultaneously, then you must "have" a card before you can manipulate it.

For example, if you have 4 objects and an alchemist, then draw or find a fifth object, you can only transmute one of your existing 4 objects and not the new one (because it hasn't made it into your inventory yet). The DE does this too.

However, unlike DE, we play that multiple objects and followers on a space are all acquired in any order, allowing you to get mules first. The DE forces you to pick them up in the order they came off the draw pile since the beginning of the game! So if the Wand was the 18th card to be drawn and the Muke was the 44th, you have to get the Wand first if they ever end up on the same space.

This is technically right (encounter cards in order drawn) but impossible to keep track of without a pen and paper for the cardboard version...

Yeah buying cards is a effect that in all seriousness cannot be interupted. Buy two cards gain them at same time must ditch a object so you can take the item. Then you get the Mule. Other than that just buy a Mule :) .
