Map Tiles by expansions

By Beren Eoath, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I'm trying to separate all map tiles by expansions. I have all what has come up for Descent and at this point it's a little mess becouse all map tiles are in one box. This makes building maps a little longer so I would like to seprate all my map tiles. Has someone such a list which map tiles whrere in which expansions?

If i remember good base had numbers 1-30 and some connectors but what about the rest?

Can someone help?

cheers

I will go over my tiles when i get back home, i keep them bagged by expansion for the easy access. It may not be 100% accurate but will be pretty close.

Oh man this is my exact same problem. I started just bagging them by size and shape but that was still not enough. I will be checking this thread to see if someone can get the tile numbers from each set.

I just got a file box like this one . (This isn't the exact box, but it's similar.)

I sorted the map tiles into numbered folders by fives (1-5, 6-10, 11-15, etc.) and there's even a space on top for doors/brush, dead ends, and numberless joining bits.

Haven't used it for a game, yet, but I can tell set-up and take-down will be WAY faster than cramming everything haphazardly back into the box they were in before.

Here are the NUMBERED tiles for all expansions:

Descent Base Game - The Shadow Rune: 1-30

Lair of the Wyrm: 31-35, S1A

Labyrinth of Ruin: 36-43

The Trollfens: 43-49, S2A

Shadow of Nerekhall: 50-69

Manor of Ravens: 70-77

Notes: Yes, both Labyrinth of Ruin and The Trollfens came with corner connector 43. Multiple pieces. In addition, all of the sets came with 1x2 end pieces and 1x2 connector pieces. The base game came with entrance and exit tiles. Some of them came with 2x2 connector pieces. I personally just bag all of the non-number pieces in a separate bag.

If you absolutely need to know which sets came with what connectors, I can find out. Don't know why it would matter though. I guess you could be thinking of selling, and if that is the case, I will erase my answer :P

For ease of assembling, when my group assembles :P the tiles are bagged in group according to tens:

0-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc...

All the unnumbered pieces are in a separate bag.

We start with the first bag, and work our way up. "First bag: 3, 9! Second bag: 13! fifth bag 43, 43, 43, 43!

I considered doing something like this but I found the size differences always made it feel like the cardboard would bend if pressure were put on bags as I stacked them in the "map box". So I started organizing them by size, which is where mixing expansions made it messy. But thanks to this thread I reorganized everything by expansion then size.

I have everything in large (some as large as a gallon) ziploc bags inside of hanging folders, and there is very little pressure on the cardboard. All of my pieces are organized by 10s, like Alarmed (though for me it's 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc.)

I personally prefer to sort by expansion. That way when you select an expansion to play you might as well put the other expansion in storage as they will not be needed for a long time. I also put the mini expansion stuff in a different box as those are rarely used. I find it rather helpful to remove currently unused stuff from the collection to reduce the stuff to sort through.

I usually sort like this

One box of stuff that is not being used in current campaign. (unused heroes, classes, plot decks, agents, quest specific cards) which is put away.

One box for all setup stuff including the tiles for this expansion and base set.

One box for rumor quests things.

One large box for all figures. Each group is put into a separate baggies except the large ones. Then they are put in large bags based on group size. This really helps as I have > 100 figures and it would take forever to find a set if not sorted.

Having things well sorted really helps if you have an obscenely large collection of descent stuff. There really is quite a large amount of stuff. Remove unused stuff can reduce the stuff 40% or so.

thanks for all the help. I sorted my collection by expansion it makes playing this game a way lot easier.

cheers

I implemented this organization (gallon bags 1-9 etc) this week...so simple....soooo much easier and faster!

Thanks!

*updated: Manor of Ravens, (there are no 78/79, right?)*

Descent Base Game - The Shadow Rune: 1-30

Lair of the Wyrm: 31-35, S1A

Labyrinth of Ruin: 36-43

The Trollfens: 43-49, S2A

Shadow of Nerekhall: 50-69

Manor of Ravens: 70-77

ps: are there more of these "reference sheets", like this one from the base game:

Wow. Good catch. Not sure what happened there. You are correct, the tiles in Manor of Ravens stop at 77. I corrected my entry above. I hope no one freaked out about this and spent hours trying to find "missing" tiles. :P

Being a new owner of Descent 2 and all of the box expansions I decided to make a list of what tiles were in each box. In addition to the number sequence listed above each box has the following:

Base game - 2 entrance/exit tiles, two 2x2 connectors, 6 1x2 connectors, and 8 1x2 ends

Lair of the Wyrm - two 2x2 connectors, 3 1x2 connectors, and 2 1x2 ends

Labyrinth of Ruin - 4 copies of tile 43, two 2x2 connectors, 3 1x2 connectors, 2 1x2 ends

Trollfens - 3 copies of tile 43, no connectors or ends

Shadow of Nerekhall - two copies of tiles 61, 64, & 68, 1 entrance/exit, 4 2x2 connectors, 11 1x2 connectors, and 7 1x2 ends

Manor of Ravens - 2 copies of tile 76, 3 copies of tile 77, 2 1x2 connectors, and 3 1x2 ends

Other than the tiles in Shadow of Nerekhall all of the other connectors and ends have the same artwork and are interchangeable with the other sets.

manor of ravens is the last expansion by 7/26/2017 right?

No. There have been a number of hero and monster packs since then, and in terms of Small boxes, there has been "Mists of Bilehall" and "Chains that Rust" since then.

I do this.

Color-coded by expansion. I think this is from last month, before I got CTR. Those tiles are in brown.

do they not have any map tiles?

Chains and Mists have map tiles. Between them, tiles 78-ish to 98.

98 is a really funky tile, by the way. 1x4.
