B-Wing/E2 Explored

By SableGryphon, in X-Wing

I have found that I LOVE Jan Ors on a B-wing. Have used it to Fatten up a nearby Falcon, and have also found that I like her on a B-wing Ace with a nearby Biggs. IE, put Jan in Keyan's backseat, feed the evade to Biggs while he is alive, then keep it for yourself.

I was actually thinking of trying Keyan + E2 + Jan + PtL within the week. Keyan doesn't need focus for offence, so the evade is better on a 1 agility ship, and you can you the other action for either TL or barrel roll.

At the FLGS, we play 35 point Furball quite often, and I've been looking forward to testing that out.

One of the things I was playing with was Keyan having PTL doesn't need both actions, but does need the stress. I needed some way to give him another possible action.

SableGryphon, I want to see more of your "Explored" topics! They're extremely helpful and interesting. This one was great, especially since the B-Wing is my favorite ship, so you can bet I'll be returning. Thank you!

I agree and second this. You gave me some interesting ideas for squad building and I'm very grateful.

I recently spotted a combo that I think suits Farlander better than any other ship in the game:

Naviagator + Stay On Target (+ B-wing/E2, obviously).

5 points: When you reveal your dial, perform any maneuver from that dial. If that maneuver was not the same bearing as the revealed maneuver, treat it as red.

I tried the Nera + recon spec list, minus the FCS and APT (took flechette instead). It was garbage due to bad dice. FCS is a must!

Did you run DeadEye? The whole key is taking DeadEye as your EPT so you don't need the Target Lock.

I did. Deadeye also has the benefit of keeping your target a secret, which is what attracted me to it. Doesn't help against blanks, though. =/

With a Flechette Torp and a Proton Torp, I inflicted 1 stress token (because it's mostly automatic) and 1 damage (because of the Proton Torp ability). I was shooting at X-Wings, so it's not like my attacks were evaded that well, I just rolled a lot of blanks.

I am now determined to win a tournament with this after reading: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v3!s!88:49,36,23,-1,-1:-1:11:U.31;89:19,43,22,34,34:-1:11:U.38

Might as well go dumb as possible

Keyan is the highest skill pilot here, so having Opportunist on him is almost useless. It's rare that the majority of your opponent's ships are going to be tokenless at the start of the round (and you really want to not lynch yourself into shooting a specific ship just to make use of it).

Thank you for the article. Food for thought.

Maybe with a different list, Keyan would have more promise with Opportunist. If you run him in formation with a couple other higher or same PS it would make more sense.

Was able to try it out. Jan allows your usually (almost useless) focus to become an evade to make him last longer, which is a god send. Either TL or Barrel roll can be great as a second action depending on the situation. Just careful not to adv. sensors PtL before a red maneuver. Sounds simple, but its very easy to get carried away with this build

Yup, you have to plan carefully. I when you plan to do a red maneuver, and assuming you don't need to barrel roll to avoid something, I definitely recommend always taking that evade.

It's also good, if you can manage it in your list, to put Jan on a different ship. That way, she can still be used to protect Keyan, but when he is eventually smoked, you still have Jan to make the rest of your squad resilient. do that in a list with Keyan and Biggs and you'll cause a lot of headaches.

I flew Ibtisam with Jan Ors, Elusiveness and sensor jammer today and boy, she was untouchable. One on one with a Decimator and went through without a scratch.
