yeah i know. its not making for entertaining viewing.

playing for time is sadly a symptom of timed competitive play.

Can FFG errata stall tactics? i think this might be done with the fortress tactic in the future, i guess its taking shuttle auto bumping to a new level.

Major juggler you are doing a great job with keeping track of everything. Major juggler recieves major kudos.

FFG is going to be putting out a new rule apparently in regards to the stalling tactic. Everybody is pretty pissed it seems.

You are, however, doing a fantastic job of it, and the community is very appreciative of your efforts. Especially those of us across the globe who cant be there.

On a side note. C'MON MORGAN!!!!!

Shame about the end of the match, joshua deserved better result for his sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Falcons are iconic, not rushing head long into enemy ships isn't stalling.

And people need to begin to recognize that Turrets are a part of this game. They are not going anywhere.

I'd like to see something about getting stress after consecutive bumps.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi! Go Morgan!

Matchups:

We’ve got Fat Falcon versus four ship reel list in Ira Meyers (Han + Falcon + Gunner + C3P0 + Predator + Engine, Tala x2, Bandit) playing Jonathan Gomes and MrFroggies Panic Attack List ( Blue x 3 + + B/E2 + Tactician, Gold + Ion Turret + R3A2). Froggies is freaking out icon_smile.gif

We’ve got HOTH tournament organizer and winner Sunny (James McDonald, Whisper + VI + FCS + Gunner + ACD, Doomshuttle (Omni + FCS), Soontir + PTL) taking on World Champion Paul Heaver (Han + R2D2 + C3P0 (love it) + Predator + Falcon + Engine Upgrade, Tala x3 ). This is just an awesome matchup and I need to get over there and check it out. Sunny is playing great but Paul is just lights out right now.

Next we’ve got some swarm on Phantom swarm action with Morgan Reid (Whisper + ACD + Rebel Captive + FCS + VI, Howl + Swarm Tactics, AP x3) taking on Texx’s 7 ship swarm (Howlrunner + VI + Hull Upgrade, BSPx2 + Draw Their Fire, AP x4). Whose green dice will crap out first? Will Theorist’s belief on this matchup hold true?

Finally, we’ve got a great Rebel versus 4 ship rebel list matchup (man, the B Bracket was filled with some very hard swarms) on the final table, with Richard Hsu’s 4X Rebel list ( Wedge + DTF + R2D2, Cracken + VI, Biggs, Rookie) taking on Keith Wilson’s 7 ship tie swarm (Howl, Dark Curse, Black + BSP, Obsidan x2, AP x2). Richard didn’t fortress and it looks like we’re for a full blooded right.

It is tough to judge without even seeing the match. We can't tell if Josh approached from a bad position or not. And is the fortress for a few turns than the up/down movements a lot of squads have used before? No, it isn't the most exciting. But a player should not be forced to attack in a sup obtimal position.

I don't think it's too big of a deal. But a simple "Receive 1 stress if you both bump your own ship and don't move" would completely discourage it.

Not that I'm saying they should. I think it's rare and perfectly fine.

So was this match won by a single tie killed? Interesting stalling tactic.

I don't care if it worked or not, that's pretty disgusting and against the spirit of the game.

It's not against the rules therefore apart of the game. It's not easy pulling off a win like that and take some great timing and luck, props to Richard.

Nice mix of squads in the final 8.

It appears he simply used the fortress to give him some turns to see his opponent's strategy. He did not force his opponent to engage him in the fortress setup. Was it his intention to do that and his opponent wasn't falling for it so he broke it up? Who knows. Using it to get some insight, imo, isn't a problem. If he sat there and made his opponent come all the way to him then I think that is poor sportsmanship. But like Sithborg said, we're not there and definitely have no way to see what he was thinking, so at the very least we should reserve judgement.

No. He kept in the fortress set up till the five minute warning was called, then zoomed out to kill a tie (since ties would have won a tie due to initiative. He waited till the first shots of the game were in the round time was called.

Its not skill when you setup and then stay like that for 40+minutes

And by creating a punishment for it, you punish those still learning or those that make mistakes (like me) a lot.

Punishments are designed to teach you to NOT make mistakes.
