And losing your action isn't enough?
2014 Worlds Results
No. He kept in the fortress set up till the five minute warning was called, then zoomed out to kill a tie (since ties would have won a tie due to initiative. He waited till the first shots of the game were in the round time was called.
Even so that's a legitimate tactic, the imperial player can engage when ever he wants. The tie player could have ran for the last 5 minutes and won due to initiative.
Edited by AtomicFryingPanNot when its not actually punishing you.
And by creating a punishment for it, you punish those still learning or those that make mistakes (like me) a lot.
Nah there are ways to do it where nobody will do it accudentally.

not if u make it a tournament rule. beginners shouldnt need to worry until they master movement. it could even b introduced as an upgrade card to establish it as a tactic that costs you points to do it. Thematically how can u justify this - my ships are just tethered together? i personally think it should be looked at by FFG at the tournament level, auto bumping with a large ship might have different rules due to their better durability? u could lose a shield roll an attack die on yourself every second bump? roll a red and a green and apply both results but ignore crits unless its a large ship bumping a small ship? my point is there are lots of ways this tactic could be discouraged and also made legitimate. Just saying they should look at it because clever players are going to abuse the heck out of it because there is nothing in the rules thats says they cant.
Edited by The_Brown_BomberHe used the bump mechanic (designed to punish players for bad flying) as a tactical advantage. Was it legal? Absolutely. Was it good sportsmanship? Absolutely not. Will it be legal in the future? Absolutely not.

i think FFG will look at it. I wouldnt be surprised if FFG errata some rules about bumping like this for next years Nationals.
[EDIT] New thread is up to discus the tactic of auto bumping ur own ships. Stop by and leave a post if you want to. Cheers

Was the rebel player being a **** about it? Was he taking 15 minutes to set dials? Why didn't the imperial player send his ships in?? You can give yourself a tactical advantage and still be a good sport. You don't have to fight in the middle of the board.
Also until ffg releases a statement saying they are changing the rules then it will always be apart of the game. Your definitions of sportsmanship and spirit of the game might not be the same for everyone elses.

Agreed
Why didn't the imperial player send his ships in??
Looking at the position the Rebel player cheesed it up in, it's pretty obvious why the Imperial player never sent his ships in.
Anyone there with an update? Would love to hear a play by play for that 3I vs Pheaver game.

new thread up. c u there.
Just me 2 cents:...The Falcon was heavily modified my Han...so I guess the MF title is unique. But wouldn't you say the turret system would be unique to the falcon as an upgrade cost also?....not standard as it is now.
Any more results?

Indeed - personally I think FFG should have given all the YT-1300's the Outer Rim Smuggler stats (with costs reduced accordingly), and the Falcon title should increase the stat line to what it currently is (with cost increased accordingly). Then we'd only ever see one YT-1300 with the Falcon's abilities and stat line fielded at any one time.
After all, there's a lot of YT-1300's out there, but there's only one Millennium Falcon.
Ira vs Paul in the semi finals.
That will be a cracker.
Keith from the UK into semi finals other half. Home support from me!
Other match still going it seems
Im pretty new to xwing but have obviously heard about Paul heaver. He does seem to be a brilliant player. Winner last year and semi final at least in this, along with vassal events etc he is clearly very good at what he does!
Major juggler you are doing a great job with keeping track of everything. Major juggler recieves major kudos.
Well, I can't argue with that!

That's part of why I have been including the background for each player. I hope you find it helpful.
And of course if anyone has any background tournament info on any of the players that I do not have anything listed for, please feel free to mention it here!
And apparently Morgan beats Dallas.
No rematch this year!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!!
I'm actually sad that Morgan is facing Keith this round.
Would have been good for "worlds" if both finalists were from outside rhe US. I giess having a guarentee that there'll be one in the final will have to do
.
WOW!
All 4 of the Top 4 went undefeated in Swiss, 6-0.
And the final table will end up being Rebels vs. Imperials again! So thematic!

The round is over. Ira won a very close game against Jonathan that came down to the last couple of turns of the game. Jonathan did a beautiful job herding Han around, landed him on an asteroid, nearly drove him off the board, and got him down to only one hull left, but it wasn’t enough when the game when to time.
Paul and Sunny played a very precise and interesting game that featured some spectacular maneuvering and dice swings. R2D2 once again proved invaluable and the game hit an ending with a 1-hull Lambda, 1-hull Whisper, and healthy Soontir versus a 9 hp Han. After a lot of excitement Paul managed to finish off Whisper and won on points.
Tex and Morgan ended in victory for Morgan, coming down to the very last roll of the game, where Tex had to kill a tie fighter and couldn’t.
Finally the 3XZ rebel list was unable to withstand the swarm, but made a great go at it. Richard killed four tie fighters but it wasn’t enough and he landed in a Cracken versus Dark Curse and 2 AP endgame. Keith patiently tracked down and killed the last Cracken of the tourney.
I snapped a bunch of pics which I’ll post at some point!
Release the cracken!
Scary options for Paul if he wins. My money is on Paul and the whisper swarm, with Paul winning. That's just based on lists. I haven't really seen these guys play enough.
