BAAB Swarm, thoughts

By masuli, in X-Wing

Hey all! I'm new to this community and wanted to get some opinnions on build I was thinking of running. So here it is

Ten Numb+AS+ST

Green sqdr pilot x2+CR+ST

Blue sqdr pilot+AS

total 99 points

I was thinking tactics something like first encounter get the Bs to fire at range 3 and A wings to fly of to flank. Key would be the second encounter where it would be ideal to get all at range 1 and with that you could chain the swarm tactics to get PS8 on all and blast away.

Any thoughts or changes?

All your hopes are in that range 1 move, pretty risky if you ask me.
And not having push the limit on a green squadron is a crime in my book. ;)

I have had succes running this list. Its pretty solid and allround (it cant deal with a good phantom player though).

  • Green Squadron Pilot (20pts)

    Chardaan Refit, Push the Limit

  • Green Squadron Pilot (20pts)

    Chardaan Refit, Push the Limit

  • Blue Squadron Pilot (27pts)
    Advanced Sensors, B-Wing/E2, Intelligence Agen

  • •Keyan Farlander (33pts)
    Advanced Sensors, Veteran Instincts

Farlander is cheap and a beast, I went with advanced sensors over push the limit but its up to your fancy. The blue leaks information from an enemy key ship and gets the most out of your barrelroll en lets your A's boost into a better position.

hi there. the problem you are going to have here is that Swarm Tactics has such a short range. If you want to use ST you will need to keep the A-Wings close. B-Wings are slow and A-Wings are super fast (and this keeps them alive) so i don't think this will work quite as intended.

Its called ABBA, btw...

This is kinda the point since we are playing with 75min time limit (with friends that I know will take time to plan the dials) so it will only get you 2 to 3 fights tops. So with one Range 3 attack the Bs might shew up on some shields or hull and the range 1 attack would be the place to lay havoc. If there would be a following 3rd attack it would be to maybe finish something off.

Well they can be spread to rather big area and still be able to chain the ST to get PS8 on all of the ships in range 1 encounter. And the idea is to really ball them up for the second encounter anyway.

Well ok then :D

Weird, somehow the edit button got stuck.

75 min is more than enough to finish most battles IMO. (Unless you are flying Tie swarm vs. Tie swarms or a defensive phantom)
But if your friend takes a lot of time 'planning' just go for Fat Han and Jan Ors. Fly circles, kill one ship and win. But that does not seem like much fun...

i think you will find it extremely difficult. I've played a lot of games with both of these ships and the dials are not remotely compatible. besides, if you are taking a ship and intending to run it beside a b-wing, when why take a ship that is built to be a flanker and not a formation flyer? why not take an x-wing or several z95s instead?

the point is, you are using an a-wing in a role to which it is just not well suited.
