which is the better 2 point crew member?

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

i've got 2 points to spare on a Han build and i dont need it anywhere else, so

tactician or mercenary copilot?

both only come into play at one range band, and both are passive so i dont have to choose between their ability and something else

door number 3 is leaving my crew empty and using the 2 points for initiative, which i do enjoy having

for reference here's the build:

han: veteran instincts

jake ferrell: test pilot, ptl, vi, refit

keyan: hlc, opportunist, adv sensors, E2, nien nunb

its 120 point list for a local tournament

I think it depends on the list and how you fly it. I could see some ships and players that like to keep things at Range 3. Personally, I think those at Range 2 would get more use, especially on a ship that has improved firing arcs.

I also think the Stress is better than a crit. Surely it's dependant, but I'd rather have Tactician.

I'd say Tactician.

Mercenary Copilot requires: Range 2, In Arc, Uncancelled Hit

Tactician requires: Range 2, In Arc

Edit: Looks like copilot doesn't require you to be in arc.

I don't like tactitian on turreted ships, too easy to forget the firing arc requirement.

I like Tactician. Both in general, and in this build.

stress seems to be stronger, but the merc works outside of arc. hmmmmm

How about option #3: Jan Ors

Mercenary Copilot is at Range 3, not 2. It's a much much bigger area on the table. It helps mitigate the damage output at range band 3, and makes the Falcon dangerous at range (where you get a nice extra evade die). Those crits add up quick.

Take a look at the nationals lists, there were two of the same list in the top 8.

Han, Vet Instincts, C3PO, Mercenary Copilot & 4x Bandits

It served me well. Tactician would have been nice, but in far fewer cases. The important thing is to keep the falcon at range 3 as much as possible. That crit is the last thing to be canceled.

How about option #3: Jan Ors

Tried it, it triggered once.

The way I run the list, is that han and Keyan stick together, while jake shoots off to do jake things. Jake could use the evade to beat effect, with all his evade dice. But he's so far out that it's not a huge difference maker for the b wing.

If that's how you run the list, have you tried bumping the VI on Jake to Outmaneuver instead? I've found it rather nice on A-Wings being run as flankers, but that's just my two cents.

Oh ok. You could cast in on the Falcon too; that's the main reason I thought about it.

Also; why Nien Numb?? Keyan rather likes stress, and with AdvS he won't lose his action from them anyways.

Dash Rendar.

I'm not biased, though....:)

keyan likes stress, which is why he has opportunist. it makes me less predictable on the dial, and nien helps him in the event he cant shoot. opportunist is ALSO the reason i have jake bumped to 9. sure, 7 would be just as good, but i like the option. at 120 points, why not.

Of the two mentioned, I'd go Tactician.

Of the possible crew, I'd actually recommend Jan. Giving either Han or Keyan an Evade will keep them on the table longer.

I'll reconsider. I like for Keyan to have a focus just in case I can't give myself the stress.

Jan is actually pretty pointless for the Falcon because it's cheaper to just take the title card if you want to spend an action to get an evade token. The correct answer is to drop the crew slot on the b-wing (since it isn't doing very much) so that you now have 4 points to spend, and spend them on C-3P0 and the title card for Han.

Tactician and Ion Cannon on the B Wing would be fun if you like that kind of thing

I prefer the damage output of HLC/opportunist.

And I don't own 3PO. Wouldn't run it if I did.

If I was gonna spend 4 points I'd probably run Chewie, but j like the b wing being nearly as fast as the falcon.
