HappyDD,
From one Invasion player/lover to another, what do you think of Conquest so far? How do you compare/contrast it to Invasion?

After playing both, I'd say this one is far more my favorite and I think it's going to stick around a lot longer. But I still LOVE Invasion...just nobody wants to play.
But BACK to the subject. I wouldn't say this is broken, but one Hell of a combo. Soul Grinder and Syren Z...talk about shut down!
This game is very hard to break...

Honestly, I find it hard to even draw a comparison between the two, they're worlds apart.

I can tell you which one I like more, but that's probably obvious since I don't own cards for this game. I'll message you privately regarding how well they compare.
Conquest.
It has more strategy and a great deal of tactics that will evolve in the months/years to come.
Not that anyone asked for my opinion, but (IMO) you can only really compare an LCG Core Set to another Core Set at it's release. Think in terms of Invasion when it first came out, not in its form 3 years down the road, only then can you make an unbiased comparison.
Conquest may seem far less predictable and less "mechanicy" at the moment, with fewer elaborate plans/singular kill shots, that (if executed properly) can pretty much win you the game. But this is the case because all we have to work with right now with Conquest is the Core set, which as we should expect, acts only as a "core" to what it will grow into. There's (expectedly) just not enough to work with right now to build a highly refined/specialized deck, as was the case with the Invasion core.
So for the next few months, deckbuilders will more just focus on a few characteristics: cheap vs expensive units, command domination vs rush tactics, good cards vs bad cards (lol), etc. What will take precedence instead (as with any new game) is refining your own personal skill in actually playing the game. Which this particular game will require a lot of. Conquest to me offers the least trivial gameplay of any LCG produced to date, which means it will take a lot of practice to reach a competitive level, and a lot of player skill to execute a deck to its potential. This coupled with the fact that it IS an LCG, and will EVENTUALLY foster the deckbuilding refinement that card gamers love, means I expect really good things out if it as it grows into a mature game like Invasion was a few years in.
NO ONE ASKED YOU!
No no, he has a point! The idea of comparing starters has some merrit. I play 4 difrent LCGs (not counting the two that fell by the wayside) might be intresting to see wich cards that where in the starters were powerfull enough to keep showing up in decks, many expansions later.
Spouting my opinions about card games is the only thing that distracts me from work when I'm at work! ...ok its not the only thing
Two cards that I think have the potential to be problematic in the future are Nullify and Promise of Glory.
After a few cycles exhausting a unique character isn't going to be nearly as costly as it is now since currently you have to exhaust your warlord to use it a large amount of the time.
Depending on the power level of demons in the future, being able to play multiple PoG on the same turn might be a problem. I don't think it should have the limited keyword as that would be too restrictive but +2 resources is pretty strong.
Nullify's overall power level really depends on how many non-loyal non-signature Unique Eldar units are printed. Right now there are none, so Nullify can only be played in Eldar decks. Yes, it's decent in those decks, but Eldar aren't exactly a dominant deck.
They'd have to print quite a few non-loyal non-signature Unique Eldar units for it to see any serious play outside of Eldar decks.
I'd state many of the 1 of's in the signature squads are overly powerful. With the rate of cycling in this game random draw isn't enough to hold them off. Cards like the Den for DE and Blade for SM.
