Predictions for the June STOG

Edit: .... not cool dude.

Indeed spending money on broken cards that people hate is usually a dangerous thing, seeing as there is always the posibility that they will be banned.

Yeah, its like gambling... but only no thrill in the luck aspect... lol

From the sound of that conversation posted, maybe one or two cards at most will be sent to cardbord hell to join other mistakes. My honest guess is that lotm and/or i spin will be gone. Lotm is the most obvious card to get the ax. I havnt met anyone yet who will argue that it isnt busted. It fuels defender loop, it makes momentum barely a cost, its stats are over the top... You get the point and its all been said before.

I-spin is another card that is over the top, but w/o lotm looping it, it might be enough to keep it legal. As much as id love to see spike gone it could be argued that w/o lotm it might just also be brought down enough to also remain legal.

@ohsteven: I don't know who you are or if you actually know James Hata but I really hope that wasn't really him as I assume if he says stuff like that it's in confidentiality. And if you posted that, you've honestly probably have hurt his feelings and broken his trust in who ever he said that to.
Great move steve, you couldn't wait a week for steve to finish the STOG june? Jesus Christ some people are stupid.

Yes, Omar's Voldo got Addes Syndicate ultimately banned.

And Revitalize, and Injuries, and Military Rank, and Happy Holidays...

And I think we all LOVE him for it lmao

If no new bannings or errata happen in this month's SotG I will considor Steve Horvath and James Hata the Gary Bettmen and Bill Daly of the CCG world.

For those that don't know who those two are I'll briefly explain:

They are the Commisioner and Deputy Commish of the NHL respectivly. They sit in their little world and try to spew out to people that everything's ok, there's nothing wrong with the league and half of it's American teams AREN'T losing money. That the game is more exciting than ever. Oh yeah, and they block change that would benefit the league 100 times over.

Wow, I just read this post and and I

jizzed

in

my pants

Not only do I agree anyways, but NHL? Dude, you get a hypothetical high five from me.

To be completely honest, I thought what I was posting was general knowledge already and that some of those cards were going to be banned... if not then I apologize to Hata and everyone else if I said something that was not supposed to be said.

I love Omar's Voldo for entirely different reasons.

It's my little ray of sunshine.

Uh... no.

Why is there this incessant need for banning? I agree the game could use them, but this in no way means that will happen this month. Consider the major tournaments coming up and rethink your thoughts. Why are you so sure that the cards that should've been banned last month are going to be banned as soon as this week?

You know i dont think its fair to put james and steve in the same boat regarding bannings and such. I dont know who actually makes thoes descisions, do you? Could be James, Could be Steve, maybe Both?

Anyways how bout we all just cross our fingers that regardless of what happens we all continue to enjoy the game.

This, becuase I was equally taken aback when reading what I read, please 'think before you post'. 1) Don't derail threads, and 2) don't speak on anyone elses behalf without express permission - this refers to keeping private things private as well as the obvious.

Back on topic, addressing what a few have posted (but not wanting to double quote).

Personal opinion: there is not an incessant 'need' for banning. Rather, there may be a strong degree of 'want' for banning and there is certainly evidence that supports some of the 'moaning' that goes on in the forums. Do I 'need' to see bans to keep playing the game, hell no - I am satisfied. Do I own all of the cards that are put out on the chopping block on a regular basis, of course.

Would I enjoy the game more with a few of the problem cards gone, maybe/probably . But it isn't up to me to decide. Too many players put themselves in the position of 'knowing better' becuase they think that they can apply some simple logic with commonly known evidence and make a decision that affects everyone. They quickly forget that there are a lot of other things that contribute to a decision like banning a card, things that we as players cannot pretend to understand. There are the logistics, business, social, and political parts that contribute to decisions that impact a competitive game, none of which any one person can know unless they are intimately close to the game - see designer/owner/whatever/(not players).

As a player , I pride myself on finding out what is legal (and what are the rulings surronding what is legal) and building the best possible deck within the restrictions that everyone plays within - after that, there is no right to complain, granted I could have built the exact same deck as anyone else with the same knowledgable inputs.

To this extent, my only qualm is when new player/asset cards are suddenly in use against me at a new event. My only complaint to the game's controllers would be that there should be a) an announcement of all the new player based and promo cards that are legal and available for distribution before an event, and b) a description of what these cards do. There should no doubt be privilege given to the winners of these cards, namely they (to a great extent) control the distribution of the card. But I do think it should be public knowledge that the card is legal and the details of what it does.

Perhaps, if I was to 'predict', as the OP of this thread mentions, what will be in the state of the game. And by 'predict' I mean what I would hope to see in the STOG, is a list of any new promos that are legal in the summers events (assets/characters/reprints etc.).

It would also help if distribution wasn't complete crap in certain areas...

As I'm sure, if you've ever met members of my playgroup who constantly whine about this, you know I kind of have to agree.

Nevertheless distribution is one part FFG and two parts players, whether it be their relative volume of purchases (livlihood of the game in the area) or the store owner/Scout himself. Sorry, it is also the distributor, some distributers suck. But I don't think the STOG will have 'distributers suck' in it, so I apologize for off tangenting this thread.

Nope... because the prizes are supposed to be sent out regardless of your volume of retailer purchase. Unless that changed.

I guess I mean if your store doesn't put priority on your game they may stop dealing with FFG, or simply stop running tournies, etc.

Oh, here in Calgary we have prizes (sometimes missed and late, but hey that is life), we don't get league support worth a dime though. hehe. Haven't seen a foil common in ages preocupado.gif

<a funny aside: Anyways, we are posting a lot. You think if we keep up this volume we can drown out Marco's quips? He is a master at it, and I guess so are you, but I feel out of place...>

I was pretty surprised myself. I was reading over the posts and thought, "Holy crap! People are SERIOUSLY dropping bricks of text, some that even rival mine in both size and content."

Also, you can't drown-out mine; haters always be scoping the thread for my posts, unfortunately =/

Also, ******* comment is *******. Let's not try to be so rude next time, k? K.

Can we trade? One month we get your problem, one month we stay with ours. Should solve the problem.

I wonder what the sotg will bring? There are several cards I would like to see go and others I would rather stay. Either way i dont think it will bother me much. I am interested in the previews though =D
