what alliance will this ship hold? will i be able to use him with the rebels or the imperials?
starviper question
No it belongs to the scum & villany faction.
It is part of the Scum & Villainy faction, which is separate from the Rebels and Imperials. So, neither.
ooo ok.

So here is a question, if you were going to compare star viper to another ship be it rebel or imperial which ship do you think it is closer to?
It is kind of like an un-shielded e-wing and I mean it has the same hit points but only 1 of them are shields. I can see allot of shield upgrades used on it as the effectiveness of boosting 1 to 2 shields is so much better than from 0 to 1 shields. Heck I would say the gain is probably greater than 2 shields upgraded to 3 shields.
The viper is close to an x-wing similar hit point configuration, same firepower but better agility.

I think a better comparison is an Tie Interceptor with hull and Shield upgrades. Same movement options and dice stats

I think we need to see the dial before we can definitively say all we know so far is it has the s loop which could be a big advantage.

I'm betting he meant that it has boost and barrel roll. The only other ship to have both of those actions stock is the interceptor.

He may well be right, I'm sure it'll be a nice medium fighter no matter what.
I really love the Star Viper, like others have mentioned its basically an interceptor that already has the hull and shield upgrades built in freeing up modification slots for other fun stuff, (stealth device, autothrusters[which we assume is a mod] or even just another hull/shield turning it into a Defenderish type ship)
Honestly the Star Viper will be the Scum ship I buy duplicates of 1st and be the one I try the hardest to fit into lists, although that has less to do with the stats of the ship (since we really don't know a whole lot besides the basics) and more with Shadows of the Empire being the first Star Wars game I had growing up
Probably close to an E in use. Similar stats, potential systems slot, etc..

I have a feeling that you won't want to put a hull or shield upgrade on it. The mod slot will probably be best used for the Autoth**** card that shows up in the picture with the StarViper cards spread out. If that's the card that the devs have hinted that will make Interceptors more competive against turrets you'll probably want it on the StarViper as well.
I think it's going to play like a tankier Interceptor.
