Guesses as to the ships in "Stay on Target"?

By GrimmSqueeker, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

So, any guesses yet? To me it looks like an ARC 170 on the cover, which opens up the chance for some Prequel ships. Plus, we have most of the iconic Rebel fighters already. So my guesses, in no particular order:

ARC 170 (it's pretty much a gimmee)

V Wing. Fluff tells us it was the precursor to the TIE, so for earlier campaigns it would be useful.

TIE Avenger (please please please)

The Gunboat from the TIE fighter pc game

The Scyk fighter, especially with the Scum and Villainy set coming for the miniatures game

Possibly the CSAs IRD fighters?

The Emperial Escort Carrier seems very likely, and possibly, in the carrier role, the Venator Star Destroyer. For the Rebels, the carrier from Truce at Bakura

E-Wing, only ship left that I want.

Troll...

Have we had the Eta-2 yet? Or the Republic LAAT Gunships? Grievous's Belbullab-22? I'm quite partial to the Republic Carrier/Flagship type ships too.

The prequels may have had their flaws but the Republic fleet design was pretty sweet!

Haha, Keith!

Care to estimate a release date? Our Ace is a pretty major character and really wants this book.

I'm with Kieth on this one.

In addition to ships mentioned I would love to see the T-Wing and Novasword in it along with the TIE Oppressor and maybe the I-7s and either an A-8 or the A-9.

For Alliance capital ships perhaps the Neutron Star Carrier conversion from Legends, WEG, and WOTC (FFG was the first source for stats on a stock Neutron Star rather then the Carrier conversion.) A CR90 Carrier conversion or perhaps more then one. (There are two CR90 CV variants that I know of off the top of my head.) I think there was a Nebulon-B variant converted to carry more fighters seen in the Alliance fleet in one of the AOR era comics. And maybe a GR-75 or bulk freighter carrier conversion. And maybe some of the Separatist carrier ships. (Who knows maybe FFG will have the stock Providence class Carrier Destroyers actually carry a fighter compliment unlike what WOTC did when statting them)

For the Empire possibly a Secutor class Star Destroyer and a carrier conversion of the Acclamator.

Of the ships already mentioned the Venator would work for either side IMO since in Legends the Empire used them as flight schools and I'm sure the Alliance could salvage a few from battlefields or possibly some from salvage yards.

I'd have assumed any carriers stats would be left for the Commodore or whatever that AoR career is called own splat book.

But I wouldn't mind seeing stats for either the Venator or Acclamator but would love some kind of deck plan for either ship but I have more chance of a Star Wars Rebels sourcebook at this stage!

Bit early for the TIE Defender isn't it?

Still I wonder what else will be in that book?

Commander is the career, Commodore is the capship focused specialization.

While I suppose its possible that all of the vehicles in Ace will be stunt craft, racers, and fighters I personally think there will be at least a couple of capital ships. And carriers are a natural choice for capital ships in an Ace book IMO

Serves me right for posting without my book on hand!

Still sounds more like a book for various types of fighter craft than carriers though maybe a list of atmospheric versions including careers for such?

The early Republic Gunships qualified for that didn't they?

Now some maps of one of those would be an interesting addition! :)

Personally I'd appreciate any sign of life at all concerning the book. Has there been any word at all since the initial announcement?

I suspect much of the RPG department's resources are focused on the Force and Destiny Beta at the current time.

Then again, FFG usually plays their cards close to the vest when it comes to upcoming releases. The only reason we likely heard anything about this book was somebody goofed and briefly put it on display at GenCon.

FFG and Pinnacle (producers of Savage Worlds) have both probably learned the lesson about talking about something and then missing deadlines. Namely that too many get vocally hurt over it. So, better to not say anything until it is ready. This can mean lots of silence about things followed by the sudden appearance of something, but that is better than giving a release date and then missing that deadline for one reason or another, especially when smaller companies don't have as many resources to dedicate to keeping things on target, so emergencies eat up their time...

Pretty common MO really. Talking too much about upcoming products is kinda like tattooing your girlfriends name on you butt.

I'm sure the book will have lots of fighters, maybe even more fighters then any other book though that would take a lot. But every EOE Career book has included a mix of ship types and sizes.

I could see specialized stunt and racing craft in the Sil 4 range easily.

If they do include any capital ships IMO carriers would be the logical choice, giving the fighter characters and groups a new choice, or new choices for what to use as their base ship.

Its in the list of upcoming products and is listed as being "at the printer" with a Q4 release. Its been "at the printer" for 5 weeks, but there it is.

Well, depending on the printer being used, it could be that it takes time to get through their queue. They could have lots of other producers with larger/higher priority printings and such to get out.

When they say Q(Whatever) do they mean fiscal quarter (like every other company in existance) or calendar Quarter? I ask because this is Q4 for the Calendar year, but we are in Q1FY15 for the fiscal year and by the time standards on the FFG scale most products this FY are already late and will be late for Q1FY15 as well. It seems they are way behind schedule.

Calendar Year. Also, it could be a regional distinction. I work for a company in southern region of the continental United States. and we reference our quarters using the calendar year, rather than the fiscal year.

AAAAAAA!!!! It's finally on the boat! ROW **** you, row for your lives!

Ahem. We now return you to your regularly scheduled. . Oh never mimd

As for what's in there I'm pretty sure we'll see a lot of things that ties in to the Armada and X-Wing expansions that we just got, that would make sense marketing wise.

Given that beast rider is one of the specs in this book, I would hope that we see more new riding beasts than fighters.

I still want a fair few new fighters tho!

I'd like to have stats for the Decimator that showed up in X-wing.

I'm pretty confident that is NOT an arc-170 on the cover.

It looks like a larger ship than the arc-170. The 170 has two cockpits, one upper and lower as well as a tail gunner. The ship on the cover has one upper cockpit, a tail gunner and what looks like a nose gunner.

I don't see any s-foils on the new ship either. I believe this to be a larger vessel, possibly of freighter size. While inspired by the arc-170, a different vehicle entirely.
