Getting the most out of my Rebel Aces

By Sonikgav, in X-Wing

Wanted to get some opinions on something ive been tinkering with in regards to the Rebel Aces (and a little Wave 5 thrown in) to have few ships, but put out alot of firepower.

Jake Farrell - Test Pilot, Proton Rockets, Vi, Lone Wolf

Keyan Farlander - FCS, HLC, Wingman

Jan Ors - Ion Cannon Turret

Basic plan is to have Jake off on a flank, ideally within R3 of Jan so that ability can be passed onto Proton Rockets, or simply boost his normal, mediocre firepower. Usually however its going to be Keyan, with a 5 shot HLC, Target Lock and his ability should put some real hurt out before an opponent can reliably fire back and he looks after Jans ability with his EPT.

Ion Turret is there simply for some control support and i realise that there are far more tricks that Keyan can do, i think this keeps it 'to the plan' so to speak.

1. Keyan doesn't need wingman. Jan's ability will already stress her before wingman takes effect and you don't want him in range 1 of Jake for obvious reasons.

2. Your Jake is 30 points correct? Once the Rockets go off he is a very expensive 2 attack dice ship and you'll want to be boosting Keyan more than Jake anyway. You could swap him out for a blue with hlc for way more damage potential. But a-wings are incredibly fun to fly, especially Jake, so I can understand keeping the a wing.

Wingman is actually to remove the stress from the previous round as the HWK doesnt have much in the way of Green Maneuvers.

And yeah, Jake is expensive but ive actually brought him down from what he was lol. He's only got 6 points of upgrades really and Jans ability can at least up his firepower to 3 once the Rockets are gone.

I say go for it. But I'll echo with Wingman and say give Jan Nien Numb in exchange, then you have another point for a cheap EPT or you could put VI or even Adrenaline rush on Keyan or Jan. :3
