Fan-made Regiments?

By DaGreatJL, in Only War House Rules

Hi there, I'm new to the forum, somewhat new to the game; I was wondering, I've made some Regiments using the rules in the Only War corebook, and would like to share them. Would this be the appropriate forum area to post in?

Yes it is and please do!

Do it. Do it now.

Generic Sisters of Battle

Origin: Shrine World (3 Points, Shield of Humanity)

Commanding Officer: Choleric OR Sanguine (2 points)

Insert Regiment Type; Any, replace armour with Sabbat Pattern Power Armour, Boltguns as standard regimental weapon. Favoured Weapon Flamer or Meltagun, Favoured Heavy Weapon Multi-melta.

Defenders of the Faith (2 points, Shield of Humanity)

Insert another Doctrine if you have room to do so and wish to.

Should make a decent basis for Sisters of Battle at least. Just refluff things as necessary and cheat a little.

Weapons:

Lascarbine (main weapon)*
knife **
Grenades:
2 blind
2 stun
2 frag

* local variant :
Lightweight material (-10 single handed firing)
Piercing (felling)
Heating issues (overheats)
Erratic (unreliable)

** local variant:
Shearing (razor sharp +2 pen)
Poor grip (flies off in random direction)
Brittle (breaks easily in combat)

These were done as a sort of joke regiment, based on the paranoia RPG.

In the game each character is a mutant (altough mutants are to be executed for treason) and the best way to let the average guardmen have some weird powers was giving them a dose of spook for their regimental kit. In the RPG you often get unreliable weapons, thats why the local variants are a bit naff.

Nazgul regiment, anyone?

756th Pentidian Midnightwings

A harsh, deadly desert world of Pentidia is home to numerous nomadic tribes, dangerous beasts and religious beliefs which only just fit into Ministorum standards, and persistent rumors say that real practices of the tribe shamans are nothing short of heretical.

Cities can be found on the southern pole of the planet, and exotic, rare equipment they produce is shipped as a part of planetary tithe.

Among nomads the harshest penalty, usually reserved for murder of closest relative, is feeding the criminal to legendary creatures of the night - dreaded Sand Vyverns. Carnivorous, cannibalistic, unnerving, warp-sensitive creatures are the common monsters of child tales, merciless daemons of the night which sense the scent of their victim's soul. Yet sometimes a convicted murderer returns from vyverns hunting ground - forever bonded with one of the beasts, and when that happends - he is armed and geared with homeworld equipment and sent from the planet never to return.

Do not come between the Nazgul and their objective...

A couple of weird ideas I had (and which I've never used yet):

- "Viking-style" Mountaineer light infantry regiment

Come from a Feudal World but have been trained in the use of guns and Imperial tech.

compact-lascarbine (something like the contemporary "Skorpion vz .61" submachinegun)

custom mono-sword from their home world.

grapnel

magnoculars

additional knife

firebombs.

light caparace.

I can't remember the exact doctrines that I gave them, but something like Close quarters and warrior weapons, I think. Maybe also survivalists and the doctrine that gives you Toughness as an aptitude.

They also have the drawback of "Honour-bound" or however is that called.

I handwaved a couple of doctirne points, not too many of them.

- "Pirate-style" altitude hijackers

A regiment from a steampunk-themed homeworld were most of the civilization is up in the air (with lots of planes, zeppelins and that).

The regiment would be specialized in assaulting big aircrafts, spaceships and close-quarter combat.

Hamlet 3

Hamlet 3 was once a world devastated by a meteor impact , once rich in life and human civilisation was whipped off the map, as clouds of atomic fall out covered the surface for many years . Parts of the planet were fractured by the force of the impact, great canyons formed all over the world, interior cities were plunged into the depths of this once beautiful place, only to be filled by irradiated water, from the planets vast oceans. This time was known as the great cloud.

After the Angevin Crusade the planet was rediscovered, and soon set about a new colonization. This was known as the war of reclamation , as the mutant tribes of once humans, fought back with sticks, stones and whatever they could find. The war was quick, taking only a month to purge the planet , though some mutant tribe do still exist.

Now rich in strange metals, the settlers found that there were now flouting masses of rock, that were once part of the meteor that devastated this world. With magnetic qualities opposite to those of the planet, it is still mystery today why they float. Though now they play home to cities and small settlements.

The rest of the planet is now ever under water, or urban ruins, a Giant crater on the east continent, known as the great known, for its still covered in blankets of heavy radiation, while humans have tried to explore the region, no one has yet to return.

Climite

Hamlet three is a barren waste land, of ruined cities and irradiated oceans. It’s temperature is a uncomfortable dry 41 c, during the summer, while winter is long and hard at -20c with irradiated snow storms. About once a year for one week known as the great rains, the planet undergoes a violet rain storm seeing the fall of up to 30cms of rain in one hour.

Culture

The people of hamlet three are scavengers and can use the best out of nothing, they are frontiers men, living and dying by the gun, this has found them self’s being warery of other communities as banditry is somewhat common, as settlements run out of supplies, or cannot scavenger or make up what there years. Though the people make every last drop of water count and last bit of food, wasting is seen as big of a crime as murder, and stealing anthers supplies is also just as bad.
Hamlet three is known for it’s metals, light and strong, the metal from the meteor, and what was left of the planetary resources provide most of the tith for the imperium of man, though the people of hamlet three do produce guard regiments, but of small quantity only raising one or two at a time.
Due to the floating cities and vast distance between settlements, as well as the dangers on the ground , flying is the best form of transportation, and thus, a big part of Hamlet 3ths culture.

Structure and civilisation

The citizens of hamlet three live on the fragments of a meteor that once destroyed the planet thousands of years before. Large chunks of rock form hives while smaller pieces form towns and villages. Though the capital is the only place that has a vast population for this planet at least, holding ten million citizens.

Farming communities live on the third moon of hamlet three while factories and warehouse litter the other two moons. These settlements are generally small too.

A Group of settlers known as the lowlanders have small encampments in the ruined cities of the old world, these explorers search of accent technology hidden in the ruins.

Military and law enforcement

The local law enforcement known as the sky marshals dress in blue jumpsuits with bird shaped helmets gold coloured metal breast plates and should pads, often seen as harsh but fair, they lay down the hand of law on the planet, flying around in air vehicles swopping into settlements and dragging out criminals.
The planetary PDF also known as the Hamlet Reserve are made up of Ex guardsmen, those who have retired , and guardsmen in training.Recruits that are conscripted or volunteer to be a guardsmen first spend 16 weeks training with the PDF, drill instructors NCO’s and Officers are all Ex guardsmen. The training is hard and tuff with a 30% drop out rate, and 15% causality rate .

Food and Drink

Ratguls are a common food sources on the planet, a segul mixed with a rat these pests are often found around settlements and the vast sea islands can be made int Birdie hotdogs burgers, pies, and anything you can really think of .

Grain Alcohol is a 85% proof drink, often drunk just as much as water, Tastes like ethanol with elderberry with a slight bit of cough mixture, but has anti radiation drugs mixed in to help the population of hamlet deal with the vast amounts of radiation.

Grinja is a pod that grows off root it is often used for juice, or used to make flour, soup ,can be eaten as it is, this is basicly the main grain style product.

York driver is a Avian predator with high rich meat , is as big as a man It's often hunted by nobles and those with the correct licenses for those nobles to lazy to hunt, or fat.

Entertainment and sport

Hunting is a common sport from the lowest of man to the highest of nobles , due to the lack of resources in terms of food and is a right of passage for those coming of age!

Drop boxing is a game where people jump out of a aircraft With grave shots and fall to the ground fighting in the sky . Based on the old game of chicken the first person to pull there shot wins or to knock the other player out .

Sky racing simple really people get a bunch of aircraft and race them.

22nd Telas Fusilier Regiment

Only the 22nd Regiment to be collected as Tithe from the world of Telas, the 22nd is newly formed and will be undergoing training during their transportation to the Spinward Front. As such it is made up of a few "experienced" PDF officers and many green NCO's and troops.

*This is going to be used in my upcoming Only War game for the PCs, a newly formed green regiment, the pride of their world and equipped as such. They prefer support weaponry that allows them to suppress and then displace the enemy from cover so that they may advance in line while laying heavy fire with their Lasguns. The regiment also has access to the umbiquitous Heavy Stubber and Missile Launcher, the former for suppression and stationary defense, and the latter for anti-tank or anti-hardpoint options.

Höl is a combination of prison world and landfill used to dump the unwanted, the criminal, the mutant and the detritus of an entire sector. Once an ork held planet it is still plagued by 2 varieties of tiney squigs: the usefull and harmless "Wastems" and the similar looking and savagely dangerous "Wastits". Each person on Hôl is condemned to die, either from conflict amongst the inmate-inhabitants or from the occasional raids of the dark eldar kabal known as the "Fleshtenders". *
