Will we ever see elite generics again?

By LeoHowler, in X-Wing

Pedant's Corner: There is no such thing as an "elite pilot talent" in this game.

They are called "elite talents".

Actually, strictly speaking, the game doesn't name them at all, does it? Doesn't the game always just use the appropriate icon when referencing an upgrade?

God, could you imagine the fan outrage if the Transport came with a new generic X-wing?

QUITE true. Bad enough I had to buy a Transport to get Wes & Hobbie.

Even better if the rebs got another large ship before imps

I think it's one of the few upgrade types that has been mentioned by name. It's in the core rulebook.

Though I wish they could add a unique card that allowed you an ept but super expensive so they could only be one and you'd have to pay out the exhaust port for it.

Having to buy multiple transports to get enough generic rouhe squad pilots would suck. Imperial Aces has a similar issue with Royal Guard pilots. In order to be able to run any 4 generic interceptors, you need to buy no less than 8 interceptors. That's really annoying.

I hadn't thought of that, good point.

Still there really should e a Rogue Squadron Pilot with an EPT.

PS5, 25 points?

Though it is not proof by any means, I think the 'Bodyguard' talent from the first Scum reveal hints at there being either a Starviper or Scyk generic with a talent slot. The reason I say this is that it is a talent that only activates when escorting a pilot with higher pilot skill than the ship with bodyguard.

Since it comes with the viper, I'm willing to bet that the PS3 has a talent.

And I also like the versatility that elite generics add. My friend just ran a Sabre with Predator. That is cheap and effective. There are plenty of elite squadrons to model the cards after. I, for one, am not a fan of flying unique pilots just because it seems odd to me to have Wedge or Han die frequently. On principle, I leave most of the heroes in my box and roll with the nameless.

Don't get me wrong, hero pilots make this game fun too! Sometimes it's just nice to think outside the box when it comes to the sheer amount of choices. I guess I just like how they're faceless pilots but then it feels more like my squad.
