Sensor Jammer & Turr Phennir synergy?

By Antikos, in X-Wing

Even though I have a sizeable Empire collection, I rarely ever play them.

So I thought it's about time to put together a list, especially since I've never played my Phantom that I've had since it was released.

Here is a list I came up with.

99 Points

44 points
"Whisper”
Rebel Captive, Sensor Jammer, Veteran Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device
34 points
Carnor Jax
Push the Limit, Royal Guard TIE, Targeting Computer, Stealth Device
21 points
Omicron Group Pilot

Some credit goes to the following article: http://teamcovenant.com/zachbunn/2014/07/30/the-barons-whisper-x-wing-regional-report-plano-tx/

Thinking about how to make the Sensor Jammer even more worthwhile, I decided to include Carnor Jax into the list.

With the last point I could probably put a Tactical Jammer on the shuttle once I get the Decimator.

What do you guys think?

Edit: Stupid me, I meant Carnor Jax, not Turr Phennir.

Sensor Jammer is super annoying on Phantoms because it really plays mind games with your opponent when you're in arc of them. I say go for it.

I like the idea. But Jax doesn't need TC, he will probably be turtling up. Hull upgrade is more reliable than Stealth Device, especially at close range.

So, I would drop TC on Jax, make it FCS on the OGP instead, and swap hull for stealth. Basically plays the same.

Thanks MJ!

So the final list would look something like this:

100 Points

44 points
"Whisper”
Rebel Captive, Sensor Jammer, Veteran Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device
32 points
Carnor Jax
Push the Limit, Royal Guard TIE, Hull Upgrade
24 points
Omicron Group Pilot
Fire-Control System, Tactical Jammer

Tactical Jammer is a tough choice to really make work, only because it is hard to move the Lambda around, and Jax will probably be in front, not behind the lambda. That said if you think you can make it work, go for it. The main drawback of course being no initiative bud for whisper, so vs PS9 you might get stuck shooting 2nd.

Good point! I forgot about the initiative bid. We play very causally here and usually don't worry too much about who has initiative (i.e. the empire usually just has initiative). I guess we should start paying more attention to it.

I have no idea how to make the Tactical Jammer work; quite frankly I just added it to make up the points. Since I don't own a Decimator anyway at this point, I will just remove it.

I have a bunch of thoughts about tactical jammer. I think it can be a great card, but requires expert flying and the right list to make it work.

I have played Whisper in a 100 point squad for casual play too.
