Ah. The oldest of Star Wars conundrums. Lucas never released info on Yoda's species. He purposely kept that a secret.
Edited by kaosoeBecause of a joke that Lucas made about Yoda being a frog, many refer to Yoda's race as Phroggs.
It was purposely never revealed... though I'm not sure of the purpose except to maybe go nanny nanny poo poo at the cretinous masses. I've read that the original title of Star Wars was written so as to say that it was from a journal of the Whills. I've heard others speculate that Yoda is a whill. This was never validated from on high, though. So nanny nanny poo poo to you!

Probably similar to Tolkien's purpose of never revealing who Tom Bombadil was. Tolkien felt that good myths always contained an enigma.
We talked about this at our game and decided that he could be a really old really bald drall.
I hope they never fully reveal the details. I like having some mystery to it ![]()
As far as I'm concerned, he's an Asura from Guild Wars. Behold:
Muppet.
I've heard people refer to his species as 'tridactyl'. (Because it has three fingers/toes.)
As far as names go, it's as good as any.
does it matter what the name of his race is? Not really
But i have allays considered it to be a Whill. Maybe even a regressed version of the Kwa, or similar to them. If they were related to the Kwa that allows me to fill in some backstory on the race
Well.. Is Degobah his home planet? Wouldnt that make him Degobahzian or something?

No, it isn't. He was hiding on Dagobah after the fall of the Old Republic.

So, Kermit is a descendant of his?

No, his father. GL joked once that Yoda is the offspring of Kermit and Miss Piggy. Actually physically seems about right.

except that Star Wars occurs "A Long Time Ago in a galaxy far, far away" which would mean that Kermit and Piggie would have to be time travelers to be his parents.
Well in saga they were told stats wise to use human with small size. So if you want to roll one up that is how you would likely do it in FFG

Wait, it's because they would have to be time travelers that you have a problem with that scenario? LIke, that's one step too far? ![]()

Well, that's so much less sensible then Yoda secretly spawning an illegitimate tadpole whose descendants one day leave the SW Galaxy and end up on Earth only to fall in love with a walking talking swine-human hybrid. ![]()
Time travel may getthem to the right time but not the right place.. A galaxy far far way is difficult to get to. So they will need a TARDIS.

If you can travel in time, you can travel in space. If you couldn't, then even going back 1 hour would cause you to be out in open space as the Earth, the Sun, etc... have all moved from where they were an hour ago (not just rotation, but translation).

I don't have a problem with the scenario, but most people seem to forget those opening lines about when/where Star Wars occurs when making theories like Kermit/Piggie vs Yoda...
