Team Covenant Open data collection: ISO game data for games w/o logs

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

FYI.

I will be compiling statistics for the Team Covenant Open. If you have played in a game that did NOT submit a vassal log, please see this post on Team Covenant and provide the following info (if you can remember it):

  1. What squad you were running.
  2. What squad your opponent was running.
  3. How many hit points (hull + shields) were remaining on each of the ships in the winner’s squad.

Thanks.

How important is the hit points remaining data to you vs. binary lived/died data? Is it something that you've confirmed contains important data for the stats you compute, or is it only a possibility that you're interested in investigating at this point? Why only the winner's squad (does the TCO go until one side is wiped out?)?

Just curious. :)

Yeah would be interested to know what those data points are for. Maybe message me in case you don't want the participants to know?

The Team Covenant format is no time limit, so only the winner has ships remaining.

Its the first time that we have HP available in a tourney like this (well, aside from prior TC tournies), so it is partially an experiment to see if it uncovers anything.

It has way more information. You could win 100-0 MoV but only have 2-3 HP left. If you are comparing squad arch types then only looking at MoV will give you a deceptive answer. Squad value remaining, weighted by each ship cost and hit points, is going to tell a more complete picture, especially for looking at only a single tournament.

Edit and with the huge proportion of 2-ship builds out there, this is extremely pertinent. Case in point, almost all of the games were 100-0 in the first round.

Understood. Thank you for existing.
