Leadership problem

By felismachina, in Only War

Aren't Commisars suposed to be political officers OUTSIDE of the chain of command?

Yes, in an advisory position, though as Cain notes in .. Emperor's Finest (IIRC), being allowed to shoot anyone who disagrees generally means that their advice is heeded, or at least listened to very carefully, and actively defied only even more cautiously.

Wow dat treadomancy :D

Problem solved itself when said player dropped from game. Now we have great leadership with one player playing lieutenant, another one corporal and last is trooper. Everybody respect the chain of command and we have great games. Nobody whine that he have'nt got time to make decision and everybody have lots of fun with current team.

All i can say is that when player don't have the skills to play a leader in military game he just shouldn't.

Generally speaking yes, but if they kill the wrong guy anyone can be brought to trial.

And based on nomenclature I would agree with you, but it actually states in the book that the Commander class doesn't necessarily make you an actual commander. It's just the name of the class.

Commander does not refer to a specific rank! That doesn't mean he or she is not an Officer. I would contend that the class is appropriate for any officer rank from 2nd lieutenant to General! After all, there is no other officer class defined in the game! (In this case Commissars don't count!)

Commander doesn't mean an officer unless it's navy where commander is rank above a lieutenant commander and below a captain. However i think that in terms of gameplay, commander should be at least lieutenant.

Every time you respond, I picture you having a panic attack at your keyboard, throwing things around the room and verbally abusing any animals near you. Each time I am more concerned for your well being than I was previously.

It's going to be OK, wraith. It's going to be OK, buddy.

If the wrong guy is something like a fellow commisar or inquisitor probably yes. Soldiers and petty officers? No. No they wont.

See imperial infantryman's uplifting primer: section 2 rules and regulations: wrongs against a soldier, redress of: Any soldier who feels wronged by an officer or tries to incite proceeding against them will be punished by a flogging. Officers are to be obeyed at all times. My take is this goes double for commisars.

Oh really? Commissar shoots noble's son for cowardice. Noble is a corrupt jerk with way more power at his hands than he should have not to mention thrones to grease the wheels.

No one is untouchable if they kill the wrong guy.

Might just be the Commissar has an "accident" on his next assignment and that squad receives a gracious donation of carapace armour due to a "munitorum error".

Exactly. That'd be a mission in itself. Do they stick by the side of the Commissar perhaps feeling the noble's son was a pansy in the first place? Or do they take their chance and get the commissar killed, suddenly they're cleared for important bodyguard duty on a permanent basis. Out of the war.

Next thing you know, the accident gets traced back and they're wanted criminals forced to go renegade.

How exciting =P

And of course the noble wants nothing to do with viscous murderers that he had no idea they were so against the concept of hierarchical control that they all know and love. Why it isn't his fault he hired filthy heretics, he'll even help in the hunt.

That could go so much awesome in so many ways, but we run the risk of seriously de-railing the thread.

...That said it is defunct.

It's called humour, mate. I thought it was kind of funny.

All good if so. I just don't get it!

It's because! You're really quite! Expressive! In terms of how you structure your posts =P

That's all. It makes you look enthusiastic, engaged and (emotionally/)invested if taken in satire. No one actually thinks you're being all emotional lol.

This.

I don't actually think you are verbally abusing animals. It is your post structure. Laz just gets me, I guess.

It was all in good humor. I will stop picking on you.

Fulgrim. Killed two primarchs. Still rocking daemon-primarch near-godhood. :)

Ok ok I get what you mean. But you said "on trial" What St.Lazarus describes is "illegal assassination" (legal assassination is when the officio assassinorum does it :D ) But don't underestimate the comissariat. These guys don't eff around.

But it would make a nice mission.

Don't mind me, I've had to deal with a few too many trolls on some of these threads making actual personal attacks. Honest humor is fine. Sorry I misread you.

No tongue! But after that I'm flexible ;) :P

Prison rules only.

Annnnd derailed.
