Weirdness in the Woodland deck
Too funny!
Did/does anyone remember playing "Quirks" an EON game (Cosmic Encounter company in the '70s)
It was about genetic manipulation and this critter would be right a home in Quirks.
Is Talisman: The Storm River a home-brew, or an actual one we can look forward to? Might be the easiest way to have somewhat nautical adventures in Talisman.
Ha. Ha. Ha. I get it, you think I'm nitpicking. The devil's in the details, though. I still think the Woodlands would have had an even stronger theme if they had included a bear instead of the lion. And one can never have a too strong theme. After all, one of the criticisms that people had of the Frostmarch expansion was that its theme, that of the invasion of the Ice Queen and her minions, was too diluted amid all the seemingly random stuff that it included, and it's also something that I think FFG has improved on enormously throughout the latter expansions.

Tiggurix: Are you still going
I don't know what your intention was with that reply, but it was incredibly rude. There are more polite ways to explain that one is not interested in a subject any longer.

My intention was to try to explain why your justifying cards in a fantasy board game. my intention was not to be rude it was a joke hence the ":)". I'm sorry your offended but rudeness is a two way street and your comments of do come across rude in there own. And YES it does sound like your "nitpicking".
If Talisman ever gets a nautical themed expansion, Sharkbird needs to be in it
Edited by ArtaterxesPerhaps it is a nod to CS Lewis and Narnia...

Lions in Woods, Clockwork Dragons in Cities and so on. It's all good.
I love Narnia and many of C.S. Lewis's books.
The lion have a part in folklore and fairytale, so you could argue that this makes the lion "in theme". There is also the Talisman history as the original 3rd edition forest had a lion. I liked that lion more, as it really would fit the current theme better. You had to try remove a thorn from it´s pawn and if you succeded you got it as a follower if I rememner correctly.
Who is to say that a traveling circus, beastmaster or someone else captured lions and brought them back with them as pets before they got loose? There are so many reasons a Lion could be in a temperate forest. This would explain why the lion is attacking you! :-)
Shark Bird, thats funny lol
True, true, but even considering this, I don't think those lions ventured much to the north of the Mediterranean, as fact of the matter is, they're not adapted to winter temperatures, like I would presume one would experience at the appropriate time of the year in the Woodlands. And before you bring up the question of, "why is there a lion in the standard Adventure deck in the first place, then?", I view the lion there, and the ape, much like I view the Eastern Dragon, i.e. a stranger in a strange land, in a place that a lot of weird stuff happens.
The European lion once roamed the Hungarian forests, northern Spain and the Caucasus mountains. Those are all areas allowing some pretty harsh winters. All the big cats are incredibly flexible regarding climate and habitat and if you hadn't known about them already you might have doubted leopards or tigers in some of the coldest areas of the planet as well.

So, Talisman is actually pretty accurate. Remember this the next time you find a leprechaun on the Scottish moors!
