Upcoming Tournament Squad Building Help

By TheGreedyMerchant, in X-Wing

I have a tournament in a few days and the format is a little bit different than the typical 100 point games. The restrictions are, it must be a 100 point list with all small based ships and they must all be named pilots. I have put together several lists and after practicing with them I just don't like them. So I poll the community, if you were to go to a tournament like this what would you take? I have hit a road block and am tired of thinking about it at the moment.

Some of the lists I've tried.

Brath with HLC, predator, Soontir Fel with TC, RG Title, Hull upgrade, Dark Curse

Kyle Katarn with Jan Ors, VI, Ion Cannon Turret, Moldy Crow Title, Keyan with Adv Sensors, 3po, E2 Mod, PTL, Jake with PTL, and VI, Test Pilot Title

Whisper with VI, FCS, Gunner, Adv Cloaking Device, Fel with Targeting Computer, Hull and PTL, Dark Curse

and a few others that I don't quite remember.

It mostly depends on how you want to fly. An Interceptor-oriented squad for an aggressive and maneuverable list. TIE or Z-95 Swarm for numerical superiority. Etc. Here are some of my suggestions.

For an Interceptor-oriented list:

Lt. Lorrir (23)

-Targeting Computer (2)

Kir Kanos (24)

Soontir Fel (27)

-Push the Limit (3)

-Targeting Computer (2)

Mauler Mithel (17)

-Expert Handling (2)

The heavy hitters are the Interceptors, so the TIE Fighter might seem out of place. However, EH helps to compensate a little. Plus, you can shake off those Target Locks, so it's not too bad. And Mauler's ability help in the red dice department.

For a Rebel list that I've always been scared of flying against:

Wedge Antilles (29)

Etahn A'baht (32)

-R2-D2 (4)

-Hull Upgrade (3)

-Marksmanship (3)

Keyan Farlander (29)

It is a three ship list but Etahn's ability combined with Wedge's or Farlander's is always deadly.

I can come up with others and I'm sure others will as well but it would be of great help if you could tell us how you like to fly. Slow and powerful? Fast and maneuverable? A balanced force? Or a more risky fleet? Hope this helps. Have fun and fly casual!

Ehh. These seem pretty terrible to be honest.

How about try this?

Keyan Farlander (29)
Opportunist (4)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Wes Janson (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Adrenaline Rush (1)
Total: 100

I would take something along the lines of Han VI Luke C3P0 Engine MFtitle + 38 points worth of anything you want, maybe Eating a Boat + R2D2 or 3 Z95s or Keyan Opportunist, anything really

barring EXTREME good luck on your opponent's side, or very poor flying on your part, it is impossible for this to lose to any other list except another person flying the same thing. Remember that you can and should use Han's ability to reroll the dices such that you always get the maximum results, ie. if you roll 2 hits out of 3 dices, go for the reroll. If you roll 3 hits out of 4 dices, go for the reroll. Always go max or nothing, unless your target is like some Bwing with 1hp left or something.

~~~~~~~~
Depending on your opponent, your flying can be simplified into these few choices.
>> Against Phantoms, go and fast as possible in, take Focus, hammer them for maximum damage with your PS11.
>> Against swarms of any type, try to go 90deg / 45deg instead of head on. Use your easy 3, then followed with boost whenever possible. As long as you have shields, keep boosting, the amount of angles and distance you cover means that your opponent's swarm can never regroup and catch you as a whole. When you have all shields gone, keep taking Evade
>> Against elite 3 ship rebels or imperials, keep taking Evade
>> Against another Falcon, keep taking Evade
Can't take a falcon or firespray or shuttle. Its limited to all small based ships. Thankfully this means no overweight falcons.
even better, simply bring Whisper ACD VI FCS, Echo VI ACD Recon Spec, 1 Named TIE of your choice, and fill the remainder of your list with upgrades.
