Trading in items and Subtlety loss

By Obihobit, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

So, requisition checks to gain rare items impart a penalty on Subtlety. But what happens when you trade in an item with equal rarity? Trading one very rare item for another very rare item is a check with no penalties involved, does that mean that Subtlety is unaffected? Or it's still lowered by 3, because you're using influence to acquire a Very Rare item and you're just getting a +30 bonus?

Mmn, I not as versed in this particular field as I'd like to be, but buying a rare item is buying a rare item. Trading a Bolt PIstol for a Needle Rifle is still going to turn heads since both weapons are ostensibly very valuble. A Subtlety hit is justified in this case.

ADDENDUM: I thought the item players wanted to trade in had to be at least an Availablity lower? I'm also not following how you got that +30 bonus.

The exact bonus is irrelevant, it's just an example.

This sounds reasonable, thanks for the input.
