as the title says I need help as they are an unknown entity to me and one of my players wants to play one, as I didn't really feel like making up a full chapter I was going to just steal the dark angles list of skills and talents minus anything to do with the fallen etra would that work ? or would another chapter be better to purloin
Help with blood ravens
Honour the Chapter pg 26 has everything you want
What Mike said, Fantasy Flight helpfully wrote up rules for them in that book. At the time of playing though, as Relic was not overly clear on when the events of Dawn of War occured in comparison to Deathwatch, any Blood Raven will be likely to know of the events of Kaurava but not of the situation with Kyras etc.
thanks picked up the book and now I remember them from the game they look pretty good ,and so happy I got the book as the space sharks are in it my favourite chapter ever and Minotaur's so good how I missed this book

The Charcarodons are probably one of the best choices introduced in that book.

I don't know about that. Personally I don't like the idea of them changing from cold tacticians to blood mad bereserkers. Otherwise they are ok but come on, they begin with speak language High Gothic and Space Marines already have that. It depends on the person though, I don't like them but it seems some people do.
Agreed. Charcarodons provide, from a mechanical standpoint, a good (but not great) option for Librarians, especially ones focused on melee combat above all else, or provide a decent option for any other melee specialists amongst a slew of existing great options. From a fluff standpoint, they overlap tremendously with the other melee berserker types, including the Blood Angels, Flesh Tearers, and others. We already have enough melee savage berserker types, they don't really bring much new to the table. Also, though not a defining concern, the crippling impact of level 3 of their Primarch's curse is amongst the worst of any Chapter. Contrast this to the Raptors, the Chapter immediately before them, which provides unique and meaningful mechanical benefits, and from a fluff standpoint introduces these pragmatic fatalists that perfectly suit the grimdark of the setting.
Not saying there is anything wrong with Space Sharks, at all, the fundamental concept of Space Marines emulating the traits of Sharks is cool enough, and anyone who enjoyed Street Sharks (and really, how could you not?) Has to give them at least a bit of respect. I'm just saying they could have been handled better. I was not familiar with them before this book, but the idea of portraying them as cold blooded tacticians as Misha describes sounds way more interesting to me than yet another berserker.
Thank you Dr. Quinn! Somebody who agrees with me. Another thing, Charcadons rely on scouts a lot. Is that strange or what? They are berserkers but they rely on scouts? Also they don't have warcrys. They fight silently. Cool but strange.
About Raptors, now there is a chapter I fully respect. In fact I have a Raptor Character who is an Assualt marine who enjoys sniping people (is that strange for an assault marine?).
About Blood Ravens, we could put Blood Raven histories, Blood Raven adventure ideas and such. I have no time now but I hope to put in my Blood Raven influenced adventure idea. Please put any ideas with Blood Raven influences in them for the meanwhile.
I was a touch disappointed with the skills and traits given to the Carcharodon's also. I'm an avid Space Shark fan and was disgruntled when they didn't even get relic love like EVERYONE els who was introduced. That being said, fighting in silence is quite cool from an RP standpoint. I have an Assault Marine and fighting in silence while the others ask for "sit reps" and shouting battle cries is quite enetertaining if not frustrating for the others haha. The Speak High Gothic trait would have been an interesting idea if it had an impact, or changed to "Speak Archaic". If I was any good as a GM (which I'm not) I would make it a facet of an adventure. Alas, Space Sharks aren't as original as they should be mechanics wise, but that is what we are stuck with. Getting Flesh Render at rank one is a nice touch though.
Exactly how I felt. Space Sharks are a cool idea but they weren't very well done.
You could do something with the temptation of information about the Chapter's past, from a demon or Chaos Space Marine, Rogue Inquisitor, or even Loyal Inquisitor investigating the Blood Ravens.
