Wookiees and cybernetics: the social implications

By schweinwagon, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So I have a wookiee that is addicted to cybernetics (kinda like an addiction to plastic surgery). I know that some cultures and societies frown upon cybernetics, Corellian society looks down upon such things as noted in Suns of Fortune. But how would wookiees feel about such things?

Considering that Wookies already have a social stigma (Madclaw) and there is some concept art out there showing Wookies with cybernetics I would not make it an issue on a large scale. Maybe one or two Wookies take issue with it, but as a whole I think not.

The general attitude towards excessive cybernetics in Star Wars, especially in this era, is not favorable. Wookiees probably wouldn't have a problem with a cybernetic replacement limb, but if you were performing significant "upgrades" and had lots of obvious cybernetics, you'd be as much a freak in Wookiee culture as in most other cultures.

Yeah, Snoova is a bit of a freak. But he doesn’t care.
