If you roll for Obligation and roll an 11 (doubles gets you -4 and -2 Strain for the session), then would you think there'd be a way for the group to kill off that character and regain their lost Strain?

CC-2N8 (Marauder/Slicer) - wait for routine maintenance, disable mechanically. Under no circumstances should it be engaged directly.
Manny (Politico/Thief) - Grapple and strangle to negate advantage of stealth field.
Pash (Pilot/Scoundrel) - Place crate of high percentage alcohol beneath piano suspended from ceiling. Afterwards toss incendiary grenade.
Not that I've thought about it.
Maybe, but why?
And you know its pretty darn tough to kill a PC. You'll basically be hacking his unconscious body for a little while waiting to roll that magical 141+.
You'd kill off a character in your party because their Obligation came up doubles????
Is this PC a high class doctor and is your character's name, by chance, Jayne?
I feel like going after a member of a party would actually cause strain. I mean, even if the characters arent friends, they'd have to be collegues in some capacity. Whether its sneaky or fully confrontational its still a situation that would cause stress to everyone.
Really, it's just crossing that line of 'Player' and 'Character'. It's so-and-so's fault that we all got this -2 Strain. (It happened the other night.) In some cases, it'd play out in game play, as in "the party sees that bounty hunter after so-and-so and he has it in for the group as well."
We wondered aloud, "What happens if so-and-so dies right now? Do we get back our -2 strain?
(Joking around about offing each other's characters is routine in this group.)
I don't know. My obligation came up and we went to visit my outer rim podunk planet (hijacking a freighter on the way - thank's for the mission dad.) My planet's surface is corroded in continuous acid rain and lightning, the few survivors in caves are apathetic to malnourishment, the one's caught outside, including the character's grownup little sister are savage cannibals, the CSA blew a hole into the planet's core, Vice Prex sucked the blood out of one of the PCs, the planet turned out to be hollow, we Thermal Detonatored the Vice Prex (woohoo, finally a victory!) the force sensitive touched the wrong thing in the control installation in the center of the planet and created a force blast that knocked out all the 4 non-force resistants in the group, so my lone character has been pushing them around on a repulsor sled during the two weeks between game sessions while the GM has been torturing only me, and my character just met the hideous ancient terror aliens behind it all, and...
and the OP is complaining about 4 strain
, while I'm looking up PTSD to improve my future characterizations.
Your Obligation being rolled actually lowers your strain threshold, rather than causing you strain.
This is different than just having points of strain applied to your character. It's not something you can 'recover', and it goes away at the end of the session anyway.
