Crossing the Streams with Age of Rebellion and X-Wing miniatures game

By slim2none, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

So with all of the great Star Wars content coming out of Fantasy Flight over the next year, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on combining games.

For example, I am a GM for a group of friends playing a EOTE/AOR campaign now, and another group of friends with whom I play X-Wing, and will likely be picking up Armada and Imperial Assault when they are released. .

My idea was that as my characters advance in the ranks of the Rebellion, they a group of ace pilots from the X-Wing Miniatures game, with Nera Dantels and Jake Farrel, etc. serving as NPCs in the game world. While the RPG group goes around picking up gear for their own Rebel Base, they may come across upgrade cards for their allied fighter squadrons. Then, in the off-weeks from the campaign, I'd set up a Rebel build to go up against Imperial or Scum forces.

The following week, the characters return to base to discover that their squad has either lost ships, of they've lost a friend in battle, or that they've gained a valuable tactical advantage in the case that the Rebels win.

Has anyone done anything like this in their campaigns?

Sounds cool

Sorry, don't mean to clog up the boards, but as you can imagine, using the search function with the key words X-Wing and Age of Rebellion kicks back a lot of results...

The general consensus was that they are both great games (never played X-Wing myself, sorry), but very little overlap in game styles or rules.

Incorporating the results of a minis game into a narrative is easy. Switching to X-Wing instead of using the AOR starfighter rules seems an unnecessary complexity.
