James Hata vs. torn hero

By tannerface, in UFS Rules Q & A

Ok so James hata player plays a spike and stuns 2.

Torn hero player commits his 2 torn heros, thus commiting 4 cards in his opponents staging area.

Question: Can the Hata player react to the commits?

what is the text of james hata?

No because James Hata's ability said :"When you commit a foundation".

And Rules said about Stun ability: it's your opponent who commit foundation, so Hata bonus doesn't work.

Hata works REALLY well with Manifest and Chinese boxing. You pay the cost, React with hata for +1+1, then commit one of your opponents foundations, reply with Hata for +1+1.

manifest and CB become "Commit: Commit one of your opponents foundations and your attack gets +2+2"

I feel like the wording on james hata suggests whenever you are commiting a card in your staging area, even off of things like opposing players effectsand stun, you are still the one commiting the foundations(and choosing the foundations to be commited in the case of stun).

If you can't react with James Hata during Torn Hero, Can you still react with him off of things like Pyscho Style(non-targeted commital)?

If you are playing hata, you cannot play his ability on a stun, because it is the player getting attacked who is commiting foundations.

From 2.14.2.8

Stun x, E: Your opponent commits X of their foundations.

If you had torn hero out, and you are playing hata (i know no symbols but for clarity). Lets say your opponent plays a chinse boxing during your attack, you R: with torn hero. You cannot react with hata at this point since it was your opponent, not you commiting a foundation in the first place, and Torn hero states "THEY" commit this foundation instead, not that YOU commit it instead. However, after you R with torn hero and use its static to commit two cards in your opponents staging area you can react with hata. (only once though since you are commiting 2 cards simultaneously)

Hope thats clear

Hata cannot respond to his opponent committing foundations that are in Hata's staging area, including due to Torn Hero.

It's the same as how Hata can respond to committing his opponent's foundations, but in reverse.

Yet another Hata question.

Can Hata respond to the "Ecommit, commit a foundation:" cost twice since you are commiting two seprate foundations not as an effect? Like say for instance:

1. Hata plays zi mei's wheel kick

2. He then enhances with greed's influence paying the commit itself (respond with hata) and commit a foundation (respond with hata) cost.

3. So in total from greeds his attack gets +2spd and +5dmg?

Also greeds shares all 3 symbols with hata.

costs are paid at the same time, so i would say no to this. the cost of greed's would yield +1+1 from the R

Also what about commiting foundations to pass a control check for an enahnce action like kung fu. Like say I play kung fu training on an attack and fail by two, can I respond when commiting for the check and how many times can I respond?

once for passing the check [costs are paid at the same time]

once for paying the cost of committing 2
