Relevant to X-wing are badass pictures of TIE Fighters, along with the New X-wings (which we've seen already). The TIEs seem to have a few modifications, wings look further apart and smaller (similar to the original concept art of the OT).

There is also this picture of the MF side-by-side with a CR90 (don't know what to make of this, CR90 seems 4x smaller than it should be)

It's concept art, not a to-scale CGI thing. How about people give the scale thing a break.

In that last pic, is that a YT-2400 on the right?

I wouldn't have mentioned it if it weren't such a big discrepancy. I'm also pretty sure it's not relevant in any way, but I was surprised to see it.

Could be. I saw it too, but it's in a pretty bad state, so I can't tell for sure :).

WIP = work in progress

Also - just because the cabin is similar to the CR90 doesn't automatically make it a CR90. It could be a ship from the same factory like a CR-30 (I made that up)

Or, to take from a different universe, imagine back in 1982 if you only saw the front quarter of the saucer of the USS Reliant and immediately thought 'well...they screwed the scale up on that Enterprise build'

I liked seeing the broken down hulk of an AT-AT being used as a shelter. Also.....Vader back? WTH? (I've not been keeping up to much with rumors and such so that image was kind of news to me)

I just hope Tie pilots look the same.

its taken long enough to get my OT kit right.....:)

Exciting new pics all the same though.

Im resisting the urge to get too het up.

I've been down this route before... hyped up excitement followed by utter ground shaking disappointment with TPM

I remember thinking that Darth Maul had been built up by the PR to be amazing looking and dead hard and then was wasted in the first film....

Now that you mention it, it does seem to have an extra docking collar(?) near the cockpit, but it also has the 4 turbolasers the CR90 has. I'm just saying I don't know what to make of it.

Might it not be more likely someone finding his remains? I cant see vader having surviced being set of fire while luke wathced (and he watched himself... quite clearly dead).

Perhaps a clone or a former sith apprentice type modelling himself on vadar and using his look to garner support.

I thought the same but that mechanical hand......

Probably best not to overthink it. Any of those images could simply be for color palette purposes and not at all related to the story. Could just be an ambitous art department having fun.

Is there an article to accompany this image dump?

Unless vader is 'more machine than man' and the machine part 'reanimates'

its not very star wars but was the plot of 'night of the rad beast' in 2000ads judge dredd strip once (not vader reanimating... a cyborg human)

Ok, so maybe it's best not to read too much into any of these, but I really like the direction they're taking.

I wouldn't. Just like you couldn't read a ton in to some of the concept art from Eps 1-6...

It does seem to make it very clear that some remnant of the Empire is still around at the very least. Will be interesting to see just how large it will be. Will it be something like Heir to the Empire where you still have a large Empire left, or will it be just small fragments? Or even just that the bad guy in the movie has a ISD or 3 and started his own Empire with what he could find.

they're fake.

if it were real JJ Abrams, there'd be way more lens flare.

Is that the Outrider on the right of the last pic?

Like most of the pics...

Many years in the future, the Empire is still using... Tie Fighters... facepalm

on the bright side, I am really liking the updated stormtrooper uniforms from the back

Well, in a world in which there's only one Falcon, Chewie's a co-pilot, and the factory at Imdaar Alpha was blown up, they're not that bad...

I think some if not all of those pictures are fake, that one has a Dominator class Star Destroyer crashed in the background. Pretty odd for that to be used in concept art for episode 7.

I didn't see a star destroyer in any of the images - one which specifically?

Also - I don't think Dominator is a ship class, merely a ship name (but I could be wrong)

If TIE fighters are 'new' (ish) around Yavin (going by the EU comics set some months after EPIII where there are still V wings/nimbus about and no TIEs) then Its not impossible for something like the Interceptor to still be in service with any remnant imperial forces.

In fact more likely as they would be on the retreat and have less to spend on development.

Most WWII german fighters being fielded in 1944/45 had pre war origins. In 42 they suspended all designs that couldnt be put into service within one year to focus on making larger quantitites of stuff they knew worked.

So, you know a crippled or retreating empire is more likely to be using TIEs.. in some of the EU comics like crimson empire they are using whatever they can get their hands on... loads of v wings... TIEs are a luxury :)

We're still using TIE Fighters too! They're pretty **** good and cheap, to boot.
