Problem solved! It was caused by Adobe configuration. Sorry about that.
The color version of the sheets have improved them considerably and solved the contrast objections I made.
Thanks a lot!

Edited by JediHamletAgreed, how rude from my part!
I work with a Win 7 Professional and using Adobe Acrobat X Pro. The problem consisted in that once I donwloaded the files and tried to open them I got an error message telling me that the file type was not correct of the file was damaged. I solved it by repairing Adobe installation as suspected that some files of it were corrupted.
Hope this helps.
Thanks blatamano.
Every little bit helps.
Especially now that I'm getting these form-fillable versions close to completion.
I'm going the most-compatible route on 'em, however, I imagine that there will be issues. Issues that I may not be able to resolve due to lack of hardware/operating system/software/number of letters in my last name. If someone else solves a problem, it is nice to have a record of it, so everyone can benefit.
Thanks again,

Just chiming in that I've converted my FaD Beta character to this sheet. The game's not until Sunday, but just looking at how the information is arranged on the sheet is pleasing, if a bit condensed. (Then again, my first game was D&D, which had a truly packed character sheet. This is almost nostalgic for me.)
My only criticism is that the line space for "Abilities" is a bit too little, if you're looking to write down the name and basic functions of your talents and abilities. The "Act" area (which I assume is for whether the talent is active or passive?) is bigger than it needs to be, too. If you wanted to, you could shrink the latter and expand the former to make it a bit more comfortable for writing.

When you say "space" for "Abilities", from your description, I'm assuming the horizontal space.
The 'ACT' field is meant to represent the activation cost of using the talent.
From what I've gathered, that could be any one of the following:
My first thought was to give little check boxes for Action, Maneuver, and Out of Turn, but thought that would be cluttered and confusing. Ultimately, I chose to leave enough space for everyone to indicate what that cost is however they wanted to.
Earlier I mentioned one of my design choices was to limit the amount of ink laid down on the page. This was not only to save on printing costs, but to also allow one to easily change the format if needed. You can write over the printed 'designated' areas as you desire. And, since they are printed rather lightly, it wouldn't conflict with what you write over them.
That way, if needed you could use two lines to describe your ability, or Gear item.
My design philosophy for this was to give the chicken-scratchers and the bold capitalists (scripturally speaking) enough room to make it their own. The underlying grid and printed ink is there to organize things, not constrain.
CaptainRaspberry thanks for the feedback. The abilities section was one that was hard to think about. There's a lot of information you want to capture. Unfortunately, how I want to do it, and how you want to do it, are probably going to differ. So, I was hoping that 'opening' that area up would allowed everyone to do what they wanted.
I'll take your feedback into any further changes I make.

Ah, see, I didn't realize that. It definitely makes more sense. It also changes my view on it, since part of the problem was writing out what kind of action it would take. Moving it into that column makes the space provided seem plenty.

Of course. It was never my intention to try to hijack the direction you planned to develop this sheet, just to offer my personal opinions on how it performs with regard to my individual needs. You're free to use or discard my feedback as you see fit. If I really found your sheet undesirable, I could either not use it or make my own.
That said, I agree wholeheartedly with your design philosophy*. Keeping the colors faint is an excellent choice that I think people will appreciate universally: those of us with black and white printers appreciate the reduction in ink, and those with color printers will no doubt prefer having the actually useful information be in higher contrast to the background elements. All around, I'd say it's a success, and once we have a form-fillable version** it will completely supplant my current favorite character sheet.
* With the one exception of the character portrait. Personally, I'd rather have the space for writing in details about my Obligation, Duty, and Morality; but again that has more to do with my playing style than anything else and shouldn't be given particular consideration. After all, that's what notebooks are for.
** I have an idea about that, incidentally. When doing the form filling for skills, if at all possible, the first click on the box should fill the bottom part only, the second click should fill the top part only, and the third should fill in the whole thing. As to how that could be accomplished, I have no idea.
Thanks again for the feedback. I'll try to incorporate as much as I can, or at the very least with the tools I'm creating to make it easier for others to modify as they wish.

What is the thinking for this? Specialization vs. Career?
Sorry, may have miss-read: you mean the Skill Pool boxes? I was thinking the Career circle for some reason.

Yeah, I meant the boxes. The first click is for your characteristics, the second is for your skill ranks, and the third is for both. If it can be done, I just figured it would take some of the frustration out of trying to make half of each box form-fillable.
Look for an update later today, or possibly tomorrow...
and... 20th Century Fox fanfare please...
Form fillable versions are ready . Head on over to github to get them. And please read the caveats .
I took bradknowles advice and kept to simple form-fields and checkboxes. No interactiveness.
With that. I think I'm going to leave Acrobat behind for a time and start concentrating on the HTML5 solution I was talking about earlier. This way I can actually make it interactive, and still print nicely.
Edited by JediHamletEDIT: Nevermind, got it to work.
You might want to update your original post with the new links.

Guess, I wasn't quite done...
Decided to see how quickly I could throw together the one suggested variation that others have asked for.
Tada -- for those that can live without character portraits on their character sheets there's a variation in there with a different name.
Enjoy.
Not to be a total approval seeking wuss... but, is anybody getting any use out of these things?
Any feedback would be nice...

I like them a lot; I appreciate how thorough they are in terms of depth and breadth of character info. I have no issues with the layout and I like how you've given the option to have 1 with space for a character portrait, and 1 without.
I'm starting up a new game in a couple of weeks and I'd like to distribute these to the players. If they have any feedback/comments, I will forward them to you.
Thanks a lot for all your work!

I've made about a half-dozen pregens with them so far, and the only minor issue I've had is that there's no dedicated spot for Force Rating. It's not a paticularly big deal; otherwise, it's perfect.

I've used it in play now, and it holds up great. I almost never had to turn it over; everything I needed was right there. The skill boxes were perfect for telling what my roll was going to be at a glance. The character portrait space is even serving as my XP buy planning area so I can remind myself what I'm working towards. (I already printed mine before the Imperial variant was available; I'll probably switch to that in the future.)
In all, it's an excellent character sheet that I'll recommend to everyone.
